Makes some sense. He's 30 and probably wants 30+ a year. He's very good, but he's more of a top 10 EDGE than top 5, and the defense wasn't great even with him. If trading him makes it easier to keep BOTH Chase and Higgins long term, I can see the appeal. Especially if they can pull a late 1st.Going to need to score 50 points a game. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-star-pass-rusher-trey-hendrickson-seek-trade

I know what you mean, last year was awful, but there's always a next man, and a lot of times they surprise.Problem is they don't have a next man. That's rough. Next man up.Going to need to score 50 points a game. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-star-pass-rusher-trey-hendrickson-seek-trade
Who would be a few guys we would love to get with the #17 pick? Like guys not expected to be there, but with an outside shot.
I would expect at least one of the top OL's Campbell, Membou, Banks to be there.
EDGE's Mike Green, Shemar Stewart, or Mykel Williams would have a shot to be there.
CB's Barron or Johnson, decent chance one of them is left.
I like the idea of trading back. We need every dart throw we can get to see if any cheap rookies can pan out on defense. There will be a good player at 17 for sure, but I wonder if moving back and gaining future picks might not be the right path to take, especially if we are signing Trey.
We will need to rely on good drafts in the future, and acquiring multiple players might be a good idea, especially to replace those we will not be able to afford later.
This all feels very un-Bengali, if that makes sense.
Speaking from a fantasy owner bias, I was shocked how little time Burrow seems to have on a lot of passing plays. I know you guys need defense, but this guy is your franchise and needs to be protected. Maybe a first round OL and the rest of the draft on defense?Who would be a few guys we would love to get with the #17 pick? Like guys not expected to be there, but with an outside shot.

That is exactly what I hope happens. And it's not like we haven't made efforts to improve the o-line since the atrocity we had in the Super Bowl season. We've signed several free agents who were supposed to be pretty decent. It's better, but it still seems like we're just treading water on that front. At least one OL in the first three rounds I certainly expect, and I hope it's the first round.Speaking from a fantasy owner bias, I was shocked how little time Burrow seems to have on a lot of passing plays. This is what I was talking about - being very un-Bengal-like. However, we are in a different situation than usual for our Bengals. We could be in a perfect spot for a team to move back up to get a quarterback. Maybe Sanders or Dart falls. A QB-needy team wants to trade back in and get in front of the Steelers to get Sanders or Dart. We could get a decent haul for a situation like that. I think there is a good chance that Quarterbacks go earlier than expected this year, even with a Quarterback class that is not highly thought of. People are going to remember the Falcons taking Penix earlier than expected. It should be a fun first round, the later it gets in the first round.Mykel Williams no longer on the list of in-person attendees. Not sure if that means he is sliding but found that interesting.
Feels like the first and second round would be some combo of D-line and O-line. Unless an inexplicable talent fell that makes them go best on board.
Moving around the board is very unlike us for sure. Not sure how much they would like to move behind a division rival like Pittsburgh but if the value lines up I don't think I would mind and long at it isn't a Steven Jackson/Chris Perry redux
Would like to see them sign Risner to open up the possibilities in the draft a little more

Shemar Stewart already disputing contract details
In other shocking news, the sun rose again today ...
ETA I shouldn't judge him without knowing what it's about exactly, but I thought rookie contracts were usually pretty cut-and-dry.![]()
Now, however, the dispute has shifted toward contract language that appears to be materially different from deals given to Cincinnati's previous first-round picks. According to a source, the conflict stems from wording that could potentially affect the guaranteed money on the rookie deals, which would set a precedent for future Bengals contracts.
Last year, Bengals offensive tackle Amarius Mims participated in workouts without a signed contract. A source familiar with that negotiation indicated that Mims took on zero contractual risk before he signed with the team.
since the Bengals would be his employer and not the government, 1st amendment has nothing to do with anything. not sure who this Smathers person is, but now I know to not pay attention to them.Re-entering the draft isn’t a viable option for Shemar Stewart
...Whether that means Stewart eventually will blink and agree to the team’s new default language remains to be seen. If he’s going to do it, he needs to get any and all gripes about the team out of his system before he puts pen to paper.
After he signs, he’ll risk his future guarantees if he dares to “make any public comment . . . that breaches Player’s obligation of loyalty to Club and/or undermines the public’s respect for the Club, Club coaches, or Club management.”
So air your grievances now, Shemar. Once you’re under contract, the Bengals will be squatting on your First Amendment rights.
NFL Rookie Report: TreVeyon Henderson set to shine in Patriots' backfield
Not a good sign for Shemar Stewart
Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart might already have the team questioning whether they made a mistake taking him 17th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s one of the rare rookies refusing to sign an injury waiver while his contract gets finalized. That decision is reigniting the biggest red flag from his draft profile: how badly does he want to be great? Despite being one of the most gifted athletes in college football, Stewart never recorded more than 1.5 sacks in a season.
