Semi-Ticket news:

Robert Wilonsky leaving the Observer to work for The Man

Well, maybe not The Man, but the Dallas Morning News. Digital Managing Editor. One of my favorite guys to read and listen to, I wish him the best, but this news is terrrrrrribbblleee.

Dallas Observer on shaking ground?? A lot of changes lately.
Yeah, it is a shell of it's former self. I think with Laura Miller out there just isn't that much to talk about. I still giggle at that stupid bridge to nowhere.

What the #### has gotten into the Stars? You can't name five players, but they are I guess doing good? Have good, and get give?

I guess Brad Richards was holding them back? That's why I could never be a coach or GM (aside from lack of talent that is), there is no answer for why a team performs or underperforms.

Hate to be a buzzkill, but I'm wishing fail on the Stars this friday. Don't take it personally.

Tufnel, Jr. is a Stars freak, so I hope they keep it up.
It was funny listening to Cuban with Simmons the other day and how he talked about how hard it was selling plans at the AAC because you have to try and tie the Stars tix in with the Mavs tix. These teams have done a full 180 the last few weeks.

At least the Stars set 2 records. So you got that going for you.....which is nice.

I know I have done it in here before, but I have to pimp the hell out of 91.7. Still the best music station locally (which is like being the tallest midget, I know) but I really think they are finding a good mixture of music.

Yu strikes out 10 Yankees and goes 8.2 innings, and Norm spends more time on Moreland's slow start.

:wall:

Good thing he is good at the draft.

Norm's methodical breakdown of sports minutia is impressive. Not great enough to keep me tuned in, but impressive nonetheless. If he had to spend every other segment getting kicked in the groin by Gordo or Dan I'd listen. Otherwise 10 - 12 is Metallica time.

I was at the game last night and the crowd was electric. Not sure what I got more tired of...people shouting "YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!" or chanting "NAH PO LEE" or hollering "Jeter Sucks!!!!". What thrill it must be for Darvish to have all this fanfare and even a song someone created for you that they play whenever you walk on or off the field. It is probably overwhelming.

The weather was awesome and everyone is abuzz about the team. There were some beautiful women out there too... Glad I got to see Yu vs. the Yanks while it is still enjoyable.

On the music front I either listen to 1310 or 91.7. I have been to a couple of 91.7 events and they are always well done. My favorite non sports station by far.

I think 91.7 should take 92.5's playlist and stop playing anything that overlaps. I mean, I can hear "White Room" twice an hour on 92.5, no need to hear it on KXT. Focus on deeper cuts if you're going to delve into classic rock. . I also think they should broaden their playlist from cute indie and get a little weirder and more obscure. Still the best music station around even though I heard a live version of Bonnie Raitt's "Let's Give Them Something to Talk About" the other day.

:goodposting: Side music note: Edgefest 22 was a kick ### show. I haven't been to a concert in years, a festival in even longer, but really enjoyed myself. The Black Keys blew the whole show away, but Arctic Monkeys was a solid number two, Cake was fun to watch and Garbage was very very solid. But I got to think that the schedule was not indicative of what they are playing on the station.

:lmao: I tuned out at this exact moment.

Agreed completely about the overlap thing. After finishing with 92.5, let's put the remainder up against Jack FM.

I was there too. And so very drunk. I was only vaguely aware that Garbage and Cake were on stage. I enjoyed the Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys though. It took until 1pm Monday to finally sober up. Struggling.

Jack is horrid now. They had about a 2 month run where it showed promise. It's like they are trying to find the songs that everyone universally hated even when the bands they came from were relevant.

Oh, so you were that guy.Having a concert festival at a facility with much beer AND a full bar is a wonderful idea. I stuck with beer-ah but was tempted for a 12 buck Jack and Coke.

I also figured out I need to have weed on me at these shows. Girls way out of my league, well out of my age range, were asking me during Cake and Cage the Elephant if I was holding. I think I could have played that into some Megadeth style raw dogging in the right situation.

 :excited:

Wow that actually sounds like a pretty awesome lineup for Edgefest.

I thought landing the Black Keys sounded like quite a coup as well. I have to admit, I have no idea what the Edge plays these days.

Yep, they clearly signed The Black Keys at the absolutely perfect time, months ago when they did. No way a Coachella headliner on Saturday should be playing Frisco the next night, but I am not going to knock it.And  to the FC Dallas Stadium. That is a nice place. I need to go watch some futbol out there some time.

Any idea where the camp out is this year?
East Texas, can't be too far outside of Dallas. They just mentioned Kilgore and Adult Superstore. If I didn't have a job and stuff, it would be fun to drive out there and try and find them.Pull up a lawn chair right in front of them and sit for the rest of the day and watch.

Ended up being Winona, just north of Tyler. I was guessing Kilgore, about 20 miles further east.

They talked about going into Lindale. I think someone leaked the location yesterday, it was Bum Bright's place or something.

91.7 for today.

Don't really feel like listening about the end of the Mavs season, and the Rangers sucking right now.

No Stars playoffs, no more Mavs playoffs, baseball grind just starting. I guess the Ranch Report is right around the corner.

Jake Z getting TONS of airtime on BAD radio today. That is a good thing.

I really wish they would have more local shows on Sunday. The Joe Morgan Show is about THE worst thing going.

Happy 13th birthday to BAD Radio.

No show changes in over a decade. Pretty impressive, but I still think there needs to be a change.

Rick Arnett to Tom? Adding Donnie?
Sorry, I meant overall shows on the station changing. Musers, Norm, BAD, Hardline have all been in line since Norm showed up.

Feels like now is the time to get on the Dallas Stars bandwagon. The moves they are making now and the draft they are having feels a lot like the Rangers blueprint from just a few years ago.

So they lap everyone pretty much every time the ratings come out and you think they need a change? I think every Ticket listener reaches this conclusion at some point but they'd be nuts to change what they do until they're given a good reason.

Oh I know this. There is no reason for them to change. Just my own personal ##### session. I find myself listening more and more to 91.7 these days, but I will be back. I always come back.No basketball, no hockey, no football. Right now is their lean time. GB the GBL right now.

Gordo, Jub Jub, and Paul in uhh.... on the golf course, I've been waiting for this. Slow moving, but good schtick.

Edited to add the final results:

Gordo 31

Jub Jub - 38

Paul in uhh.... 42
