Plus one was an outright beating yesterday. So many botched humor handoffs. Hours of dead air, total, probably.
The 3 - 7 slot has been a huge dissapointment for months now and I don't see an end in sight. It will probably take months before they find a new cog for the show and even then it will probably take another couple of months before they settle into a coherent flow. I generally go to Metallica after the WTDS mix now.

I think I have decided that plus one is not only going to be an ongoing beating but in the end, whoever they pick, the P1s are going to hate because he/she is:1) Too much like Greggo.2) Not enough like Greggo.3) Let's Hardline Proper push them around.4) Is too assertive with Hardline proper. That is to say, the new person will be in a no-win situation.I think the answer is simple: tell Corby that it is time to grow up. All the talk when the "plus one" started was about how Cobra wanted to go back to what he was doing and Danny wanted to go back to what he was doing. For Danny, that is fine. Go back to producing and only being on-air occasionally. But for Corby, you need to retire the "yuck monkey" and just take the number two seat next to Mike from here on out. Do you really want to be doing to Over-cusser when you are 40? 50? If Corby takes the number two seat, and you just bring in a new monkey (Donovan?) for a smoother transaction.

Watch a great video last night that might interest only guys in here: "The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling".

To anyone who was into WCCW it goes into pretty good detail from early on till the end. My personal favorite things were seeing some of the wrestlers today (Jimmy Garvin bald and fat) and the fact that they do not paint the Von Erichs in always favorable terms. Pretty much blame Fritz for making bad decisions at a time when he could have gotten bigger than WWF.

2 hours of great childhood memories and eye rolls from the wife.

Had to buy it. 19 bucks at Wal-Mart. 2 Discs with about 12 matches as well.

Some great wrestlers back then:

Von Erichs

Freebirds

Ice Man King Parson

Jimmy Garvin

Chris Adams

Does anyone remember when the referree (David Manning I think was his name) wanted to wrestle Buddy Roberts? That was some good times.

I live about an hour north of Dallas, close to Sherman. I wonder if they'll sell it in our area or if I'll have to go down to Plano area to buy it.

I bet it will be at your Wal-Mart. A lot of interview time with Kevin Von Erich, Gary Hart, Scandar Ackbar, Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, Buddy Roberts, Bill Irwin, Triple H and Ric Flair.

Wow, that brings back flashbacks. Were the matches good ones? I'm assuming they have the match where Kerry Von Erich beat Ric Flair at Texas Stadium for the heavyweight championship? I'm curious what the blonde chick that was Jimmy Garvin's girlfriend looks like now?

My dad worked with Bill Irwin. Wild Bill was a temp at Peterbilt.
Another dude I forgot about. Will Bill Irwin. That dude looked like he never took a bath.
This was in the mid-90s. Wild Bill was still curtain-jerking for the WWF when they would do shows in Texas. He'd take a day off from Peterbilt to wrestle.I loved WCCW back in the 80s.
Me, too. I never went to the Sportatorium in Dallas, but they did have a wrestling even close to where I live. I was about 12 at the time and thought it was awesome.

No, the Kerry/Flair match isn't there, neither is the "Hair Match". I'm guessing they were either going for "never before on tape" matches, or setting up the better ones for another DVD release. They do have Fritz, Mike and David vs. The Freebirds, Adams and Sunshine vs. Garvin and Precious and The Fantastics vs. The Midnight Express.Very interesting opinions given on the Kerry win over Flair. How he only held the belt for 18 days because they could not count on him to show up for matches. How the whole title run was supposed to be for David, and Kerry felt like just a fill-in to make up for it. Really good commentary about the whole situation.

I can't wait to see it. If I remember correctly he lost the title to Ric Flair in Japan because he supposedly had the flu. For some reason I don't remember the Fantastics vs the Midnight Express.

According to Wikipedia, this was a WWE release so it should be fairly widely available.
Yeah, I think it was going to be an independent release, but WWE got it. With the exception of sound bytes from Triple H and Shawn Michaels, it feels very un-WWE. Of course, they had footage of Kerry in the WWE and I believe Hayes is a WWE employee now, so I guess it all ties together.

Kevin Von Erich's involved with them somehow, too (at least for one day).
On 2/14/07 WWE 24/7 had the debut of WCCW on WWE 24/7 hosted by Kevin Von Erich and Michael "P.S." Hayes.

Rads back for another plus 1

Does that make him the leader??

I like Rads, I think he would be a decent addition and he is a day-oner

"Flupoo" yesterday was classic Cobra.

Yes, Rads just doesn't fit in for an everyday host. They need something different there.

of course, you mean "flu-doo", and yeah, it was funny.
of course.HAPPY 14th BIRTHDAY TO THE LITTLE TICKET!!Anyone making TicketStock this year? I haven't gone in years, but might just make it out there to see Ryan and Ms. Juggs.
I live relatively close, so I'll probably try to make it out.

Ticketstock is a beating. way too crowded.I will be seeing little Petty Theft at the City Tavern tomorrow though.

From another board:

Happy Birthday Little Ticket! 14 years of absolute greatness! To recap the list for those that couldn't listen:

14) First Guys Night Out tied with the Ticket Walk-Out of the Rangers game in 1994 (Strike Season)

13) Mike telling Steve Wonder to shut up at the Super Bowl

12) Don Henley interview / Johnny Unitas interview (just big name stars)

11) Various Super Bowl conflicts (like with Nasty Nester)

10) Lil David Robinson fight on air

9) Dan and Dale getting into it about Jerry Jones (tied with Dan vs Lee Corso)

8) The Ticket wins the Marconi in 2007

7) January 2000 - when Norm joined the Ticket

6) First Charity Challenge on Ice (1998) at the Dr Pepper Center in Valley Ranch

5) Day 1 of the Ticket (played some of the first broadcast and Skip Bayless's intro, very cool. 14 years ago). They said George was the first caller in that day and did the fake Norm. Awesome!

4) First compound week in 2006

3) 9/11 broadcast (I still remember I was listening to the Musers when they told me about the planes flying into the World Trade Center. Crazy, crazy day. But I thought they were outstanding that day and the few weeks that followed.)

2) Gordo's arrested in GB for trespassing on Lambeau Field

1) GREGGO'S interview with Chief Kunkle!!!

Man, that makes me miss Greggo.

I've only been listening for a couple of years, and I'm surprised that I know almost all of these. Anybody care to clue me in on these two:
14) First Guys Night Out tied with the Ticket Walk-Out of the Rangers game in 1994 (Strike Season)...12) Don Henley interview / Johnny Unitas interview (just big name stars)
I hope we get to hear Greggo drops again soon.

From the reading of the list it made it seem the ONLY reference to Greggo they can use is the "Do you like your gig". Hence the two FG instances of it and the replay today.

14) Was just a stunt the ticket pulled to get a bunch of P1s to leave in the (4th? inning and go to a local bar) it was 100x more popular than they thought.

12) Just big chesting about the big names they've interviewed on the ticket. Nothing special about those two.

I live right next to the Plano Centre, so I might go at some point. I have a Modano jersey that I would like to get signed. Plus it would be nice to get something signed by Nolan. It cracked me up that he won't sign a picture of him an Robin Ventura. I've only been once (briefly), and it was a crowded beating, but I went alone and there wasn't anyone there worth seeing. Maybe we could have a cornhole at a local watering hole in connection with this.

If you're missing this Van Halen - Running with the Devil segment, OMG. I'm ####### dying laughing.
That was the funniest sh-t I have heard in ages. I haven't belly-laughed in the car that way in a long time. Probably not since Corby/Danny making fun of Rhyner drawing a mustache on his dingus and offering it sips of wine.

It was really ####### funny. Those drops will be gold. On a side note, I laugh every time I hear the Val Kilmer drop."Good Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!"
I guess I missed some gold :construction:
PID linked the drops, I guess, in my "This is funny" thread. You can get the idea just by listening to them. It's akin to the "(insert guitarist) Shreds" bit on YouTube, kind of.

The one thing that sucks about having a short commute is that I miss stuff like this. I heard Corby mention it on the way home, and I meant to turn on my radio when I got home but I forgot about it.

Found it - good stuff

The Cowboys off-season thread in the SP is a trainwreck. That Quick Slant guy is a giant tool.
Why does his Group says "Blogger"?
:bag:
i dunno, but he pooped all over that thread.
Yeah, I love his know-it-all tone about a subject that's pure conjecture.
I have learned to stay out of the SP. I enjoy posting too much, and that place nearly gets me a timeout everytime I go over there.

If Jones pulls off this "trade Barber + 2 #1s to Miami" thing, I'm going to be sick. What a boneheaded thing to do.
It smells of a Miami blogger induced rumor. "Our number 1 is surely worth, 2 (or 3) number ones, plus a cheap, young Pro-Bowl running back. Tuna is God if he gets this!!!!"I just don't see it.
