Matt Moore to Dallas

QB from Oregon State, was a UCLA Bruin but wasn't going to play there. Led a brilliant upset of USC last year. Jaws froths at the mouth over him.

Seahawks signed TE Joe Newton to an undisclosed contract.

Newton, who went undrafted out of Oregon State, has a great body and hands but lacks good speed. With how thin the Seahawks are behind Marcus Pollard at tight end, he should be a decent bet to make the team.

Don't know where I got this from, but had it in my draft notes file sitting on my desktop so I copied and pasted it from somewhere...
The Next MoJo? We hear that even though Notre Dame RB Darius Walker – who declared for the NFL Draft - isn’t highly touted by most scouts, he reminds a few of Jacksonville rookie phenom Maurice Jones-Drew…This means that whoever lands Walker – most likely in the second or third round – could be acquiring some of the best value on the first day of the draft.

The Packers also agreed to terms with 6-3, 315-pound guard Pat Murray of Division II Truman State and 6-2½, 225-pound quarterback Jerry Babb of Louisiana-LaFayette.

But the best signing for GB was Rory Johnson (4.58 40), a 6-foot, 235-pound linebacker out of Mississippi, Johnson played alongside No. 11 overall pick Patrick Willis as a junior last season and projected as a third-round pick after recording 94 tackles and forcing five turnovers.

Dallas signs Jackie Battle RB Houston to a three year contract.
Why did you bold "three year contract"?? Do you think that is unusual?I am not being a smart ### - I just wonder - don't most teams lock these guys up with 3-4 year deals - if they don't work out, they are only out the bonus money, and if they do, the guy has a 3 year deal.

I just thought he should have been drafted and to see a team pick him up and give him a 3yr deal(altough I dont know the details) means the must have liked him. I'm not by any means trying to suggest anything.

Washington signed DE Justin Hickman from UCLA. Hickman was an All-American last year and was among the national leaders in sacks. He's very fast, but doesn't have great size. He could be a nice pickup for the Redskins.

Rumored Vikings signings (they won't officially release the names until the players sign their contracts):

DT Joe Anoai, Georgia Tech

S Jeremy Burnett, South Florida

OL Brian Daniels, Colorado

OL Josh Day, Colorado State

CB Sergio Gilliam, Clemson

MLB George Hall, Purdue

OL Chase Johnson, Wyoming

TE Braden Jones, Southern Illinois

C Dan Mozes, West Virginia :goodposting:

P Alex Reyes, Texas Tech :banned:

RB Arkee Whitlock, Southern Illinois

I think it's smart... if he makes the team and is a good player they have him for three years plus that will make him a RFA which means they can get a nice return on a player they are taking no risk on as NFL contracts are not guaranteed.

Here are the Iowa guys that have signed FA Deals:

Free agent signees:

Mike Jones OL San Diego Chargers

Ed Miles LB Miami Dolphins

Miguel Merrick DB San Diego Chargers

Marcus Paschal DB Philadelphia Eagles

Drew Tate QB St. Louis Rams

The Daily Chronicle reports today that Northern Illinois tight end Jake Nordin has agreed to join the Patriots.

Nordin is a 6-foot-3 3/8, 258-pound prospect who was known more for his blocking than pass-catching at Northern Illinois.

I have found TE Gijon Robinson from Missouri Western has signed with INDY and PITT? That is a first.....

Can any homers confirm which he signed with?

Cleveland Browns

RB Jerome Jackson, Michigan

Slight homer chime-in here. Very interesting, I've followed him his whole career at UM (from hometown Saginaw, MI). You really can't do much without opportunity, especially stuck behind Chris Perry, Mike Hart, and soph Kevin Grady. But I always thought he looked decent when given the chance. I'm glad he got picked up by somebody.

Wow, the Chargers seem to have signed the most of any team which is kind of surprising considering how few roster spots are available.

San Diego Chargers

LB Antwan Applewhite

CB Anthony Arline

S Tra Battle

C Mark Bihl

RB Eldra Buckley

DE Andre Coleman

DE Barry Cryer

DE Keith Grennan

WR Jarrett Hicks

G Mike Jones

CB Quinton Jones

DT Louis Leonard

S Miguel Merrick

RB Reggie Merriweather

P Brian Monroe

RB Germaine Race

LB Nick Roach

G Erik Robertson

WR Chad Schroeder

WR Sonny Shackelford

G Jeremy Sheffey

LB Jyles Tucker

FB Mike Warren

Dan Mozes, C, WVU -- has signed with Minnesota

Brandon Myles, WR, WVU -- has signed with N.Y. Giants

A couple more signings of Huskers not mentioned:

Ola Dagunduro, DT - Cowgirls

This kid can play. He is short for DT (< 6'), and that is probably why he wasn't drafted.

Matt Herian, TE - Tampa Bay

Would of been a lock as one of the top 3 te's, and quite possibly the #1 te, had he not had that gruesome broken leg against ou a couple of years ago. He looked like a shell of his former self this last season.
