***OFFICIAL OKLAHOMA SOONERS FOOTBALL - SEC 11-1 *** (1 Viewer)

What a terrible game changing call.
:shrug:When has NCAA football officiating been good in the last ten or 15 years? You get some like that, you get some called against you like that. The LSU/UGa game was just brutal officiating, it doesn't look like it will ever get better.
No doubt and as an Oklahoma fan, I'm sure you know all about being on the other side of those. It still blows.ETA: Michigan still sucks.

Totally agree here. I hate all "we're getting screwed by the refs" talk. Officiating is bad enough that it will all wash out in the end.Except when Texas played Tech last year. The refs really were trying to screw us by missing a dozen obvious holding calls.

Good game by the Canes. OU needed better play calling on that FG drive, running into the line on the right side wasn't very ideal.

How does Oklahoma not let them score there? Down by 1...let them score and you have a chance.
Off-the-charts stupidity. Unthinkable stupidity. How stupid do you have to be to tackle James there? They gave you a gift by running a play with 2:05 on the clock and you tackle the guy after he gets a 1st down.I'm stunned.

I don't understand why coaches don't coach for that possibility. Perfect spot for it there.

There's a chance Stoops did, and the kid didn't get the message. The entire D-line didn't even pretend to want to tackle him.But the play-calling on OK's last possession was pathetic. They deserved to lose.

I was shocked as well but honestly, when was the last time you saw a team pull that off - especially from over 30 yards away from the endzone? I do agree, that i'm sure they were trying to convey that message but very poor execution. Would have had a lot of time left on the clock to go for the tie as well.

...or they're really just that bad.I mean, I know they missed the calls in that game, but that doesn't mean they did it on purpose, as incredible as it seems... ;)

Well hopefully this will be the end of the season for Bradford. With OU really not in contention (BCS) anymore with their second "L" of the season, maybe OU can start trying some different systems on offense and defense. Start looking ahead and not behind them, and I am pretty excited about Landry as QB.

BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – In a Soviet-era aircraft hangar here, a rivalry born during America's Civil War and the Battle of the Red River, is still alive and well – although now that energy is supporting the Afghan people.

Major Tobin Griffeth, an avid University of Texas fan, and Capt. Katie Illingworth, a University of Oklahoma alum, created a personal game honoring the two schools' annual rivalry which every year is the talk of the two bordering states. They enlist family-member support back home giving one point to the corresponding school which donates one box of items like school supplies, clothes and shoes to the people of Afghanistan.

Texas is in the lead with 10-0 points over Oklahoma, but according to the captain, "boxes are coming."

"Yeah right," the major quipped to the captain flashing a "Hook 'em Horns" hand-signal to the captain.

"We started this because it's the right thing to do," Griffeth, a Schertz, Texas, native and graduate of University of Texas, Arlington, said. "In a war where we'll spend millions on bombs or missiles, it only makes sense to spend money on clothes, or socks" the major said reflecting on personal observations of the coalition counter insurgency.

"I think this is a basic way we could help stop the Taliban and the insurgency -- by winning their hearts and minds," the major, a graduate of North Kentucky's Law School said. "It's also a way for Americans back home to get out there and start helping. They [Afghans] don't have much and they hear nothing but bad things about America."

They team with Army Task Forces on the ground and the local chaplaincy who often meet with local village elders, country-wide, to distribute the aid given from Texas and Oklahoma citizens.

War puts the rivalry game in perspective.

"It's somewhat trivial," Illingworth, an Oklahoma City native, and OU graduate said about the rivalry game back home. "But, it's not as trivial as some think. Our rivalry is a big deal and this is a unique channel that allows people back home to support their teams and support America. The energy is there already; we're just trying to re-direct it somewhere else."

The group asks that no food or money be sent, but donations of winter clothes, school supplies and shoes are accepted.

Donations can be sent via flat-rate priority boxes: CJTF-82-OSJA APO AE 09354, addressed to Major Griffeth for Texas or Captain Illingworth for OU.

The game started when the two officers were asked by their families what could be done to help. Soon, a U.S. Postal worker in Texas started to send boxes as well, and now college fraternities, churches and an Eagle Scout are assisting. Even the hometowns are involved and donations are streaming in, according to the captain.

It's the goal of the two to get help from other universities too. They hope other college rivalries start and mentioned the Alabama, Auburn rivalry, as well as the Army and Navy rivalry.

Griffeth is deployed from Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and Illingworth is deployed from Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Illingworth is a graduate of Catholic University's Law School in Washington, D.C. The lawyers are deployed supporting Operation Enduring Freedom's Combined Joint Task Force 82 in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate. They are both fiscal and contracting lawyers.

That's a little much. Why wouldn't you want Bradford to come back assuming he is healthy?

It's three-fold. First for him, he's going to be running for his life with that OL and no receivers. Wouldn't want to risk getting him hurt again. Second, I don't believe for a minute that OU's going to challenge for the Big 12 South title. They'll be lucky to not lose four more games this year. UT is a given as far as I'm concerned, whether Sam returns or not. I'm almost as certain about TTU. And any of NU, KU (both road games) and OSU could bite them in the butt. Third for the team, the more time Jones gets now, the better prepared he is for future seasons.

medial redshirt possible?

He would defintely qualify, but I don't see any chance that he would pass up the draft again when he's projected to go Top 5 (likely #1).FWIW, I hope he makes it back for the Nebraska/OU game this year.

Latest on Bradford... AP: "Bradford eyeing return, but surgery still possible."

Bradford coming back does not help the Sooners in the long run. I would hate to see Bradford get hurt again and see his draft status fall like a lead balloon. The QB position is not what is troubling the Sooners.

What would be the purpose? Even if he didn't go pro next spring (which would be insane), he's just a junior. No way he stays two more years.

I'd hate to see him get injured again but if he is back to 100% then he needs to play. If Bradford decides it is in his best interest to play far be it from me to say I'd rather see Landry Jones in there.Maybe I'm just more optimistic about the team's chances in conference play. How much TTU have you watched this year? They don't look very good. OU hasn't really either but to write that game off at this point is premature. Yes they have won the last two times in Lubbock but both were extremely close and the '05 game was a joke from an officiating standpoint. Broyles will be back by then, no? I agree that all of the non-UT games you mentioned will be tough but OU will probably be favored to win each of them.As far as Jones' development I don't think that should be an issue. He is an elite talent that has looked really good so far. There will be plenty of time to prepare him for the next two seasons, right now winning games should be the only concern. Hopefully the o-line will improve as the season goes along.

Well if he wasn't gonna start this week I would not have wanted to see him starting next week. This is good news.

Could we please put a fork in Sam Bradford, and just play Landry? I like Sam a lot, but it is time for OU to move ahead. Sam hurts his knee just running and without getting hit, and is starting to look really fragile.

What the hell? Overreact much?
Not really, did you see the play? Sam ran to his left, throws the ball, tweaks his knee. He is obviously hurting, his running is hampered. Bring in the young kid Landry and let OU move on. I am really worried that Bradford is a sitting duck back in the pocket, and is going to get hurt seriously again

Whatever, Bradford gives them their best chance to win. Why are we throwing to a guy with a clubbed hand on a 3rd and goal?

seriously? Texas blows out OU next week, and I hope that Bradford just survives without a career ending injury.
