All today's winners will go undefeated.

Gagne & Wood have lost their jobs already.

The Giants won't score all year.

If Barry Zito keeps losing velocity on his fastball, he'll be throwing in reverse by the end of his contract.

AL East Standings

Tampa Bay 1-0 1.000 GB

Boston 1-1 .500 0.5

New York 0-0 0.5

Toronto 0-0 0.5

Baltimore 0-1 .000 1.0

just wanted to go ahead and throw that out, just in case the standings change over the next 161

Tigers are doomed to miss the playoffs again. Offense was all hype, bullpen still blows.

At least my fantasy team will do extremely well as Nate McLouth figures to win the first of many NL MVP awards.

Thanfully MVP voting doesn't take into account defense.

Also, the Cardinals and Rockies will finish 0-0 as all their games will be rained out.

Seriously, worst rainout ever. I had Wainwright in line for the win, Tulowitzki with a steal and Atkins with an RBI. About as good as you could hope for with one of your pitchers going against two of your hitters. And now it never happened. :bye:

Tigers fans are ready to cut Edgar Renteria and it's all doom and gloom over there. Status quo.
Edgar? We need to send PP, Edgar, and Jones on the first smoking thing out of town.Inge should keep the CF position. He is better than Granderson. A walk, double and outfield assist. Wow!

I am a Cubs fan and loved what ####udome did, naturally. But I heard someone say something like a legend is born. Um, relax. I doubt he'll bat 1.000 this season. But he was awesome for a day.

Question. Did he make you realize that the rest of the roster is and has been completely going through the motions for, um, ever? He seemed like the only person save Zambrano who wanted to be there yesterday. And holy freaking crap does Pie have the same horrible swing from the left side as Patterson?!

Yeah, a definite lackluster performance. I am not worried about the lineup because, seriously, a five-hit game and saying everyone's going through the motions after one game is just, well, i guess appropriate for this thread. As for Pie, I am waiting for his chances to run out. Have been for a while now.

Pie is the Cubs best defensive option in CF. ####udome was primarily a RF in Japan, Soriano is a converted 2B, Reed Johnson has played both corners and Murton has no arm.####udome didn't play CF

I don't think Gagne losing his job would be an over-reaction.
really? they paid him 10mill. hes gonna have a pretty long leash. unless hes hiding an injury...
I've felt for a long time his performance has been juice related. He went from average to dominant too quickly and recently has been some combo of injured, ineffective, and mentally rattled. I don't know exactly what's wrong, but I do believe he will falter. Poor investment by the Brewers, if they were going to overpay for a closer they needed to retain their own. I think, and have thought for a while, Riske (or possibly Turnbow) would be closing by June if not earlier.

My draft was postponed until last night. ####udome and nady both went ahead of andru jones, victorino and damon.

eta- i thought you all were just having fun with the spelling of ####udome's name -- how does the filter hit it with proper spelling?? :kicksrock:

This year's Tuffy Rhodes
i always thought threads like these should be named in honor of Tuffy. We could turn it into a generic word. "The noob owner pulled a tuffy by cutting Bay and picking up Nady."
Was anyone here involved with fantasy baseball when Tuffy went off? I'd really like to know what that was like.

Yeah, he's the best option on the roster. But Pie's supposed to have been the second coming for quite some time now and, unlike Corey Patterson (who was the last supposed savior in CF), he has not shown any signs of learning how to hit an above-average curveball in the dirt nor has he shown any signs of learning enough plate discipline to lay off of that pitch. It's just been the same thing year after year with this guy. I hope he proves me wrong this year.

I knew he was destined for suckdom when I heard Hendry refused to put him in the Roberts deal.

I was in a NL-only league with weekly blind bidding for free agents. Tuffy was a week two pickup but the bid amount wasn't ridiculous. As I recall, he went for a few bucks more than the $5 minimum. It wasn't crazy like when Lee Smith got traded from the AL.

I was playing against Jeff Francis, who was getting shellacked, and had Pujols' HR erased from my squad.
