Notre Dame results--

The workout was held indoors on FieldTurf. There were about 65 scouts and coaches from about 30 NFL teams, including Vikings head coach Brad Childress, Browns coach Romeo Crennel and Broncos coach Gary Kubiak. Other decision-makers in attendances included Tony Softli (Rams) and Ted Thompson (Packers).

Defensive lineman Derek Landri had an MCL injury and didn't work out. He will work out at Notre Dame's second Pro Day on March 22, as will defensive back Nedu Ndukwe.

Player Position Gil's comments

Brady Quinn QB Quinn only did passing drills and had a good workout, showing good velocity and good anticpaction. Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis ran the passing drills. Quinn threw to Irish tight end Marcus Freeman and receivers Rhema McKnight, Darius Walker and Matt Shelton, who finished at Notre Dame in 2005. Quinn will run for teams at Notre Dame's second Pro Day on March 22.

Rhema McKnight WR McKnight ran his the 40-yard dash in 4.56 and 4.53. He stood on the rest of his numbers from the Combine.

Darius Walker WR Walker ran his 40s in 4.56 and 4.57, which was almost identical to his performance at the Combine.

Mike Richardson DB Richardson (5-10¾, 188 pounds) ran his 40s in 4.48 and 4.50. He also had a 36-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-7 long jump, 4.05 short shuttle and 6.27 three-cone drill.

Miami Fla--

The workout was held outdoors on fast grass on a warm day (85 degrees). The players did have some problems slipping during the shuttles on the grass. All the players participated in field drills. Scouts from 20 different teams were in attendance.

As he did at the Scouting Combine, tight end Greg Olsen put on an impressive display. He was thrown passes by his brother, Chris, who played at Virginia. Also in attendance were Olsen's dad, Chris Sr., a high school coach in New Jersey, and Greg's fiance, Kara Dooley.

Player Position Gil's comments

Jon Beason LB Beason weighed in a 229 pounds, down eight pounds from his weight at the Combine. He didn't work out because he tweaked his ACL. He is going to set up a day in April when he will work out.

Tyrone Moss RB Moss (227 pounds) ran 4.65 and 4.69 in the 40-yard dash. He also had a 30-inch vertical jump and a 7.03 three-cone drill.

Nine players from TCU worked out. Running back Lonta Hobbs, however, was not among them. Hobbs was a promising player but a knee injury in the 2005 season slowed him down.

Len Pasquarelli mentioned on ESPN this morning that Minnesota, Cleveland and Houston were at the ND Pro Day, but Detroit wasn't.

Some of his comments led me to believe he wasn't 100% on top of the situation, so take his comments at face value.

Adding to Pasquino's comments, Matt Millen was not in attendance nor was anyone from the Lions at Brady Quinn's workout.

So, is Millen laying in the weeds? I don't think so. I don't think he's coy, I think they just have no plans of taking a QB in the first round whether they use the 2nd pick or move down.

It makes perfect sense for Minnesota, Cleveland and Houston to attend though... and one would think the Lions would be there just to drum up suspicion that they MIGHT take him.. it's not like Minny, Cleveland and Houston haven't used high picks on QB only to have still unresolved QB situations going into 2007.

Then again, the 2nd pick may turn into a bidding war for Calvin Johnson unless the Raiders take him 1st.. which might be the smartest thing for them to do.

Yeah, if the Raiders take Russell #1, teams should be beating down Detroit's door to trade up for Calvin. If I'm a team like the Titans, Niners, or Pats, I would give up a LOT (think Ricky Williams/Mike Ditka/Saints) for Johnson.

Even though Al Davis appears to be losing his edge, he's still probably >>> Millen. That being said, if the true bidding war for Calvin Johnson ends up being the #1 spot, I won't be surprised at all.. then the Lions will be in a pickle if there are no suitors for Russell/Quinn with the 2nd pick. Al holds the cards right now and I don't know that we'll have any feel for any potential trades until Russell works out or the Raiders reveal their intentions. Quinn could easily drop to Houston or Minnesota.. but, what if Russell doesn't go #1 as most pundits expect? That could affect Quinn and create a much different landscape in terms of where Joe Thomas, AD and others go in those top slots.

Does anyone know when the Raiders are allowed to start negotiations with players for the first pick?

L'Tydrick Riley WR Riley (6-2 5/8, 231 pounds) ran 4.77 and 4.78 in the 40-yard dash. He also had a 34-inch vertical jump, 9-foot-7 long jump, 15 strength lifts, 4.34 in the short shuttle and 7.66 in the three-cone drill.
His low on the 40 was 4.64 and he had an excellent showing in position drills and will be a TE

Nebraska players worked indoors on FieldTurf. 23 teams were there, with about 60 people total viewing. Rams head coach Scott Linehan was there, as were the running backs coaches from Carolina and Kansas City. It was a very fast track, with players regularly putting up better times than they did at the Combine.

Player Position Gil's comments

Brandon Jackson RB Jackson (5-9 7/8, 206) ran 4.41 and 4.42 in the 40.

Adam Carriker DE Carriker (6-6, 291) ran 4.73 and 4.72 in the 40.

Jay Moore DL Moore (6-6 ¾, 274) ran 4.74 and 4.76 in the 40.

Stewart Bradley LB Bradley (6-3 ¾, 258) ran 4.76 and 4.75 in the 40.

The players worked outdoors on grass in the swamp in ideal weather. There were about 100 personnle on hand, including Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis and Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, and quite a number of coordinators -- mostly defensive coordinators.

Defensive tackle Marcus Thomas was not present mainly due to his off-field problems. He is scheduled to work out separately on March 29 in Jacksonville.

Player Position Gil's comments

Reggie Nelson DB Nelson ran the 40 once in a time of 4.35 seconds. He had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-6 long jump, ran 4.15 in the short shuttle and 6.70 in the three-cone drill. Nelson looked very good in the drills and may well have improved his stock.

Earl Everett LB Everett ran 4.82 and 4.73 in the 40, 4.46 in the short shuttle and 7.39 in the cone drill.

Ray McDonald DE McDonald (6-3 3/8, 282) ran 4.89 and 4.88 in the 40-yard dash, 5.07 in the short shuttle and 7.41 in the cone drill. He also had a 29-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-6 long jump.

A total of 16 players worked out, including one shot putter. Six of the athletes who participated also worked out at the Combine and stood on those numbers.
