I like they used the same stripper that was at Bob Vance's bachelor party, must be the only one in Scranton.
She was also the one that accepted the check at the fun run.

And as someone who went to school in Scranton, I can certainly confirm that the stripper situation is weak.

I was slightly surprised that we had no Jan or Roy cameos (although I have no idea how they'd have written either character into the episode) and that there was no interaction (even a look) between Michael and Toby.

I guess the point was for characters to get an appropriate resolution. I think we got that with both of these characters (Roy's Wedding showed he had grown up) and Clark's encounter with Jan showed she was still a sex-crazed maniac.

Re Michael/Toby- It was pretty clear they wanted to show a more mature, less petty Michael Scott. Considering the terrible state that Toby was in, for Michael to push him further would have been too much.

I wasn't expecting Michael to unload on him, but I thought they might have Toby try to cut in when Michael was dancing with Dwight or something. Neither here nor there really, I just always loved the dynamic between those two.

My only complaint was no Packer in the finale. Would've liked to see him come through with a few inappropriate comments.

Several characters made their final appearance earlier (i.e. Jan working for the White Pages, Roy's wedding.) I was surprised that there was no Holly or Bob Vance.

Good call - another cameo I'd have expected to see.

not going to read the whole thread, but I just motored through the first 2.5 seasons of this show over the weekend on Netfilx. not sure why I never watched it before, but it's freakin' amazing. perfect blend of comedy with just enough drama/human elements. makes me realize how underrated Steve Carell is an actor.

packer had his big send off earlier with the revenge cupcake episode

It really is wonderful. I didn't watch until about a year ago. It's probably my 2nd favorite comedy ever now. No idea why it took me so long (probably because I wasn't a huge Carrell fan before)

Why was Creed arrested?
Selling drugs, trafficking endangered species meat, and stealing weapons-grade LSD from the military back in the '60s when he was in a band.
Didn't they say the band was The Grass Roots? Which was the band that Creed Bratton actualy played on in the 60's.
Yes. Creed Bratton who plays Creed Bratton on the Office was a member of the Grass Roots.

Love that song.

Just got around to watching this last night. I told you guys it really wasn't as bad as you're making it out to be. They really finished strong in the latter half of Season 9.

Going to miss the show dearly. Became a weekly ritual for the better part of a decade. Glad it had a proper send off.

Well, I just watched the last couple of seasons over the last week or so. I think I stopped sometime before Micheal left, held up better than expected without him.

Thought the finale was pretty well done.

I just watched the final season. I thought it was great. I'm somebody who watched the whole thing via Netflix and have been 1 season behind since michael scott's last day in the office. This is one of the best "sitcoms" ever made. It may only be behind Seinfeld and Cheers for me. A great blend of comedy and relationships. I really felt like I knew these people and had an emotional attachment. I'm sorry to see them go.

Interesting that you liked the last season, haven't heard many people say that. Just seemed like an enormous cluster#### with new ancillary characters that served little purpose, and the Andy storyline going off the rails. Seemed like the writers and fellow actors must have really despised Ed Helms. I thought the very last episode and the retrospective were both really well done though.

I liked Dwight, Jr.

Saw a couple of episodes on syndication the other night and I'd forgotten how awesome Michael Scott was.

It really is jarring to see the quality difference from a S2 or S3 episode compared to a late season episode.
Agree. This show was the greatest thing on TV for a while, then literally fell off a cliff. It was mostly Michael Scott's departure, but the writing in general just got really bad.

The last season, much like all post-Carrell episodes was uneven.

The most vexing plot device was Andy's hatred of the British lady. Andy has always been a goof. But one thing you could always say about Andy was that he was a decent chap. This abuse he levied on her was totally out of character and just a dumb device.

Yup, they ruined the Andy character in the last season. Just awful stuff.

Other than that, I thought the last season was great.

Andy was never good anyway.

Also, he was filming that movie during the season too.

:goodposting: His best episodes were early on, as a foil for Dwight, sucking up to Michael, and the best was when he ripped his scrotum before Jim and Pam's wedding (one of the funniest sitcom moments of all time IMO). But even then, yeah, I always felt like he didn't really belong. And it's remarkable as the seasons progressed how he became less and less appealing, culminating in that final season where there was a really palpable overriding resentment of his presence from everyone involved. IMO he was every bit as detrimental to those last few seasons as Steve Carell leaving. And Carell leaving was a cinder block to the head. If the show just retained an even tone that focused on the core characters and storylines, maybe it would've remained a credible sitcom and not a sore thumb that everyone complained about because Carell was gone. Instead, Andy was central to the plot and it devolved into some of the worst TV I've ever seen.

Promoting Andy to boss was an absolutely horrible idea that had to be done only as an attempt to cash in on The Hangover fame Helms had gotten.

They should release blu-rays of the seasons with the deleted scenes included in the shows rather than having a separate easter egg for them.
