Sitting in the garage tonight. TV on, watching the royals and drinking a brew. Just fixed the plug in my Igloo cooler, circa 1995, with an electrical wire wing nut and some silicone.
Just threw out a suede and leather protector spray I have had in here for at least 20 years. If I recall, it was to protect a pair of hiking boots I bought to impress my #####-### ho of a first wife.
Thinking about restringing one of my spinning rods with 14lb Fireline. I usually put s monofilament backer line on first to prevent slippage and then splice the line together. Also saves money on Fireline.
Royals won against the white sox. Friends came over so we drank beer and watched baseball. Ended up playing a gambling game on each batter that we usually do.
We bet on the outcome of each plate appearance. Usually a quarter. I'm not FFA rich like all you effers around here. My 8yo cleaned up tonight.
Every year we go to Minnesota for a family fishing trip. Been going since I was a kid, so over 35 years probably. My 9 year old son is a fishing savant - this kid was born to catch fish.
Anyway, three years ago we started a fishing tournament. Me and my son make the lures, and everyone buys a lure for $2. All the money goes into the pot and whoever catches the biggest fish in a two hour span wins all the dough. The only lure they can use in the tourney are ones that we have made over the last 3 years.
Anyway, my tinkering in the garage today is finishing up this years lures with him. We make about 30 of these things:
Year 1: Floating crankbait.
Year 2: Spinners
This year: Little Cleo's.
All hand crafted with lure parts and lure paint. Booyah!
Big rainstorm here in KC. Just cooked dinner out of the garage. Put the Weber in the driveway. Set up a prep area with a piece of plywood and a two sawhorses.
Slow cooked some chicken thighs. Also had new potatoes and red onions from the farmers market. Slow cooked them in foil along with the chicken.
Also got some beautiful asparagus from the farmers market and grilled them up at the end with some oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.
