I searched for a thread like this but saw nothing. Title is pretty self-explanatory. Let’s hear when or if you think Henry will be suspended.

Here are the facts I know, fill me in if I am missing something Henry will have his appeal heard by the NFL on Nov. 5th so it looks like he will play tonight if healthy and next weekend, the 4th. So he is good through week 9 for sure.

So let’s hear it....

My prediction - the NFL will not take kindly to Henry trying to use the legal system to wiggle his way out of a suspension and hit him quick and hard, gone for week 10.

His lawsuit and this appeal are two different things. He will be offically suspended on Nov 5th for one full year.

ESPN just reported that Henry will find out in four weeks whether he'll be suspended and their report was the league's decision will "not be in his favor."

And if you're a Selvin Young owner chomping at the bit to see him start consider that if ESPN's report is true than Young's first start would be in Week 11. The Broncos' opponent in Week 11?

Tennessee.

was that on sportscenter or is there a link? Im just curious as to know why there would even be an Appeal on the 5th if this were the case.

But if you own Henry, then this is definitely a welcomed development (if ESPN has its sources lined up correctly.) Some people speculated that Henry would only play 12-14 games this season due to his injury history. So if this is true, and he is suspended (does this work out to be before or after) week 11, it wasn't a terrible season. It didn't live up to lofty expectations, but the guy will likely get a 1000 yards and a few TDs. Ok, that latter part is not good if drafted in the first or beginning second round. But Detroit is next, KC after that, Tennessee to follow.

It looks like Henry will get one more game to play than expected. All of the previous reports I had seen speculated the suspension would begin in Week 10. So Henry should now get to play that game if tonight's report is correct. And as I posted his suspension kicks in just in time to miss out on a very brutal matchup against the Titans. So now Henry owners can (presumably) prepare for an alternative that week rather than starting him and maybe taking some punishment. Unless their backup plan was to start Young, then they're probably s*****d either way.

It was on SportsCenter. It was part of Palantonio's report from Denver.
ok, so what is the hearing on the 5th for?

Just read in the Hall thread that Mortensen disputes Sal Pal's "Henry could hear from the league in 4 weeks" scenarios and it might be more like one week.

I figure he gets suspended Nov 5th because...

The Denver Post reports that the NFL has set a Nov. 5 hearing for Travis Henry to appeal his third positive test for marijuana. "I know nothing," Henry said. "I really don't know any dates for anything." Henry faces a year-long suspension if the league upholds its decision. However, Henry has also taken the case to a federal court, saying the NFL didn't adhere to its testing procedures.

This is correct(other than the "officially" spelling). It comes down to corporate policy vs. federal court. Henry broke policy and is a repeat offender. The NFL has every right to suspend him without regard to the outcome of the impending appeal. He's guilty. Just as a criminal case would play out, the offender still serves time in jail while his appeal case is ongoing. The only thing Henry can possibly win from his appeal is money, not playing time.Week 10.

Does Henry at some point realize that he will be suspended during this year and in order to make himself more valuable for next year decide to start the suspension sooner rather than later? I could see him have some value next year if his suspension would end around this time of the year and even if he was cut there may be a team in need of a starting RB that would give him a shot. If he drags this out and gets suspended around week 11-13 I think he hurts his value for next year.

If he drags this out I think he has decided that he will not be suspended before the end of the year.

If he gets suspended soon - I think he has accepted that it wont be long so he decided to get it started sooner.

I'm amazed Henry got it delayed as long as he already has......... Nov 5th

Henry is just trying to earn a few more game checks before his career hits the end of the road. Denver will dump him for cap space. With his injury history and a 1 year suspension looming large, I don't think he will have many options come Spring 2009.

FF wise does anyone thinks it even matters? He's dinged up and not doing squat lately anyway.
Yes, yes it does. I own Henry and Young. If Henry does somehow pull this off (20% of people here think he will), I would hate to drop him now and help a competitor make a playoff push and his production for my playoff run.

I still have not found any link supporting the 4 week predicition. Anyone see anything printed today about this?

Four weeks. lol.Looks like Selvin Young ain't so valuable after all.
I don't believe last night was the start of a string of Selvin starts. Henry will come back, play fine and they NFL will stall in making a decision until the season is almost over. I hope I'm wrong as I own Selvin.
