***OFFICIAL Yankees vs Indians ALDS Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Wait a minute.... My team spends 3 Billion dollars and the 1st guy out of the pen is some Orfendiefer guy  :bye: The game was still in reach. WTF
Well he did have a 5.50 ERA in AAA...
What am I missing.Should Torre be FIRED on the spot? :pickle:
The Yanks pen is basically Vizcaino, Chamberlain and Rivera....Other than that it's a totsl crpashoot...You weren't going to bring any of them into the game at that point...
I would have had Moose prepped for this situation and warmed up earlier...Even Veras 1st... Someone who's been in a game :wall: This guy would not be on my roster... I'd rather see Igawa. You can't spend the most money in baseball and give up down 4 runs with a guy from AAA.

Great game Cleveland.

Awful prediction by me.

About the only plus is the Yanks got to see a lot of Perez. He dominated, but the game was a lost cause and maybe it will be productive later in the series.

I think the Yanks will hit Carmona, I feel like Pettitte will hold his own against those lefty bats and the Yanks get one back tomorrow. Realistically, awful predictions by me aside, thats all you want on the road.

But I do shudder at the idea of their bats digging into Moose and Clemens. I figured the series wouldn't leave NY with the Yanks winning, but I think Cleveland celebrates in the BX. Hopefully the pitching matures next year, and their arms develop into something as effective as the ones they've been running up against.

Anything can happen in a series, but here is to new blood!

The networks may not agree, but I would love to see a "Cleveland-Colorado" type series. The game for the love of the game.

cy wang killing it!!

go tribe!!

carmona vs petite nice. should be a good game & y'all should have thrown petite first.

Torre is an idiot for pitching RoadWang™ in Cleveland...the guy has been pitiful all year on the road, everyone knew this

CC really sacked up after struggling

And AprilRod stays hot in the postseason...

Go Tribe!

Oops, missed a couple...How great was Jeter's Little League ballerina swing where he nearly bit it? ;)This one comes from nyyfans.com, good stuff

What are the odds of an Indian hitting a HR while the guy whose been banging the drums for 34 years is getting interviewed? That HR was fixed; it was planned all day.

If you're going to pitch Hughes in the 7th and 8th, why wasn't he put in earlier when it might have mattered?
Because Torre is AWFUL at handling a pitching staff...Always has been
I'm still livid... Not over losing game 1 - That happens, and the score doesn't even bother me. I'm pretty much a realist in this stuff and Pitching Beats Hitting so, in my eye I don't know how anyone claims pitching Beats hitting and then favors the Yankees with Cleveland with home field in the 1st place. But, If I own the Yankees and It's a 4 run deficit and this Kid who never pitched in the big leagues is the 1st guy out of the pen, I'm on the phone with Girardi in the 5th innning.....Are people making a big deal about this? I'm I wrong here????You pitch Hughes or Mussina there.... This kid should never have been on the roster.I think it's unbelieveble and it was Torre waving the white flag down by 4 runs!!!!!FOUR RUNS!!!!! That's nothing... You heard all week about how in a 5 Game series that you play every game like it's your last and you pretty much unload the gun right there.... Well, that goes to an extent, of course you don't bring in Mariano.... But, DAMN, you don't bring in some ROOKIE with zero experience..WTF :P

Word is that Torre will use Wang on 3 days rest in game 4 at the Stadium.

I think that's a MAJOR mistake. I'd have a lot more confidence in Moose on full rest than Wang on short rest after last night's pummelling.

One more thing: For all the Yankee bluster about Pettitte being a "big game pitcher" in the playoffs, his postseason ERA is over 4.00. Fact is, he's been bad as often as he's been good in the playoffs throughout his career.

I think the Yankees are in DEEP trouble here.

Wang just hung a lot of balls.... I have no problem with him pitching again, a lot of those balls found their spots through the infield... He's the guy that got you here and it would be at home... My whole thing is still the guy who comes in next - Once I saw Wang didn't have it, and that can happen to ANYONE, CC was even a few inches from the same fate, I'd have Moose or Hughes ready to go even if it's the 3rd inning....DO you think if CC gives up the lead there and the Yanks go up by 4 cleveland brings in some rookie????????And It's a series, the only DEEP trouble comes after tonight if they lose again.... Someone has to lose game 1 and the Indians had that matchup going in.....The scary part to me is Torre waving the white flag and brining in a NOBODY down only 4 runs....FOUR RUNS IS NOTHING!!!!!

I have no clue what he was dong especially now that it looks like Wang's coming back in Game 4. I know they have to save once of the guys in case Clemens spits the bit, but if you're going to throw Hughes who can throw 4+ innings you have to put him in there. You just have to. As much crap as Pinella gets for pulling Zambrano at least he was bringing in Marmol who's been lights out this year.

I haven't heard anyone else ##### about this yet.......I know the Sox faithful here scout the YES and Yankee boards - Is there a commotion about this???How can the most expensive team in baseball in a 5 game series bring in a Nobody down only 4 runs??????

GREAT game last night. HUGE win. CC gets the win although he was struggling with his command.

Nice to see the bats come alive. Wang's sinker definitely wasn't sinking and Indians took advantage.

LeBron was two sections over from me and was getting booed relentlessly. He left after the 6th. Stay classy King.

Hope they can keep the bats going against AP today.

Is this a sellout? Maybe Cleveland fans finally showed up to see a good team.
Boy I hope I don't hear alot of this from you catching up here. SHUT UP already about sell outs. Go root for the Wolvies or something. Your talking to the fans that booked this place solid for YEARS.

In their defense, there's so much competition for the entertainment dollar in Cleveland
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Pickle Factory. That's pretty much it. Bobcat 10 will tell you Jesus parted Lake Erie and there is always BGP telling you the White Sox are going to win the Central (while he's cleaning his Rugger 44 laughing aloud).
Hope Sheff enjoyed the knife.

Good game... (for you guys)If I'm Lebron, I go to the game sans my hat.......To me, it's respect thing.... Root for whoever you want but, you don't need to wear the enemy colors.

I'm telling you, the Indians are just maddening. They destroyed the Tigers this year and I still have no idea how. They will do this #### all series and that's why I think this series is destined for five games. All the talk of Borowski blowing saves overshadows all the late inning bull#### this team has pulled out of their asses all year. Inning after inning, game after game, series after series. :goodposting:
You seriously are still in denial? How saddening.

You really have no concept of how to communicate on a civil level do you?

Joe is going to get murdered for starting Wang game 1. I would have preferred Pettite just to get Duncan's bat in the lineup, as he could have snuck him in at 1B. As it stands, Matsui is lost. Overall though, I think Wang has earned the shot.
Wang is your #1 guy IMO. I think the problem is that you and some of your fellow Yankee fans underestimated the Indians. I know them about as well as you know a division opponent and they are no joke. Sabathia is one thing, Carmona and his sinker vs a fly ball team is another. Yankees need to win this game.
Left turn.This is fun.

'I think when fans of a team that didn't even make the playoffs come around to the playoff threads to nitpick and start crap about stuff like attendance, then it's pretty fair game whatever the hell the comeback is.

I'm actually pleased that Wedge got Perez and Lewis their first tastes of action in game 1, especially after being off for so many days. Same for Betancourt. Love how the Yanks don't have a lefty in their pen. They spend 200M and can't buy a lefty.

So I can't talk about the Indians who are the Tigers rival? Try again.

Just my opinion, you can do what you wish... But, pissing and fishing in a PLAYOFF THREAD about attendance  Then crying over the responses. Whatever.

I've read that. Thanks for the re-link and for your support. I'm just pointing out your inconsistancies prior to the post above.

I'm not fishing, and the attendance comment was referencing something that was discussed earlier in the year between Tiger and Indians fans. The second part about Cleveland was obviously a joke. Maybe you should consider the scope first.

If the strike zone is as tight as it was last night (for both teams), I think that will benefit the Yanks more today with Fausto on the mound. But if Fausto has his sick stuff, it might not matter much if the Tribe can put up just a few crooked numbers.

Must win for Yanks. Should be another fun one to watch. It would be nice if TBS can get their audio straightened out.

I'm just trying to enjoy the playoffs and I'm playing this series right down the middle. I thought friendly needling with Tribe fans here was cool until about a month ago when you seemed to get a little mad about it. It's all good, I'll still enjoy the series and the playoffs. Glad to see you guys are so excited.

Big win for the Tribe last night, but I guess I just don't see all the doom and gloom for the Yanks...

The Tribe had their best pitcher and Cy Young favorite (co-favorite at worst) going at home...

That's a game they should win...

And they took care of business, even though CC definitely didn't pitch his best game...

Now Game 1 is very important, especially in a best of 5 series, but it's hardly a guarantee of anything (just ask the Yankees about last year's ALDS against the Tigers)...

I still think this series is going 5....

Wow. And you say I'm the one who acts like a ####.BTW, even if only 10 people showed up for the game last night, that's still 10 more than were at Comerica. :bye:

The history shows that the winner of game one has gone on to win the series something like 69% of the time. If the Yanks were going to win one of the first two, it would likely have been game one, as Sabathia is a power pitcher, while Fausto is a ground ball pitcher. IMO, Fausto has a better chance of mitigating the Yankees power, as long as his stuff is forcing them to pound the ball into the infield grass.
