He is the fastest man on the whole team. He is not playing both ways. He's still an "athlete"pick. Not that great a receiver, but getting better.I'm not even sure that Ginn is the best or fastest WR on his own team.
Tony G is right there. He is the fastest man on the whole team.I'm not even sure that Ginn is the best or fastest WR on his own team.
Is there even such thing as just a CB anymore? I thought the name of the position had changed to "Shutdown Corner". At least, that's what everyone who plays the position is referred to as these days.He was a highly rated DB coming out of High School, but has not played the position since. I don't even think he practiced as a DB for OSU. I heard a radio interview with him before the season started and the reporter asked him if we'll see him at CB since OSU didn't have any returning starters. His reply was "I'm a WR."He may have the physical talent to play CB, but I don't see it happening. Aren't CB's just WR's that can't catch anyway?
IMHO: Ginn needs to hang around for his senior year. YES I am an OSU homer.,but that is not the reason.Ginn survives on athleticism. He can get away with this in college, even a little in the nfl.but he needs some work. His route running still needs work.I don't see it improveing that much by the end of the year.
Anthony Gonzalez is faster than Ginn as evidenced by head to head results and times.Hamstring said:He is the fastest man on the whole team. He is not playing both ways. He's still an "athlete"pick. Not true maybe in some silly 20 yard dash. On the field ginn is faster than anyone.Anthony Gonzalez is faster than Ginn as evidenced by head to head results and times.Hamstring said:He is the fastest man on the whole team. The hype is based on the reality that once Ginn learns how to run routes he'll be nearly impossible to cover in the NFL.Santonio Holmes was the best reciever on the team last year.Anthony Gonzalez is the best reciever on the team this year.Ted Ginn, Jr. will bust a big play here and there, and that's all most people remember.Ginn = hype.
It's not Gonzalez that gets the safety over the top help every play. Gonz is a solid productive collegient receiver and will have his place in the NFL, but he has the luxury of flying under the radar whereas Ginn receives the focus of the defense as the guy that can beat you on any play.If you look at their stats, they are vitually identical this year, so all the Ginn bashing is confusing to me. The guy is producing just fine. Oh, and if you look back over their career, it's not close. Gonz is hanging with Ginn over 4 games by riding his coat tails.Santonio Holmes was the best reciever on the team last year.Anthony Gonzalez is the best reciever on the team this year.Ted Ginn, Jr. will bust a big play here and there, and that's all most people remember.Ginn = hype.
His speed and quickness is freakish though. Too much to be just a corner.People honestly believe that a guy can just step in to the NFL and play the 2nd toughest position (QB) without having played it in college?BTW...if a player has that much talent...WR is his secondary position. A CB is more valuable.
But Holmes drew the double coverage last year and still outproduced Ginn by a wide margin. Nobody is quesitoning Ginn's athleticism, but he's not a lock as the best WR on the team. It's not Gonzalez that gets the safety over the top help every play. Agree. But if he was good enough to be a "shutdown corner"...he'd be playing corner. His speed and quickness is freakish though.
