Okay... I am now *officially* a Tim Tebow fan! (1 Viewer)

As far as the entire topic, the problem is, being a good guy..which Tebow undoubtedly seems to be.. won't win games...or a championship. I hope he turns out to be all that and a bag of chips like his throng of supporters insist he is, but color me skeptical.

I dont think anyone doubts his character as a person. Some just doubt his ability as a NFL QB. Great story though. Been enjoying this series.
Don't kid yourself, Tebow gets bashed BECAUSE he has character. Plenty of people in the US prefer to tear down anyone that displays integrity, especially in a Christian religious context.
he doesnt get bashed for his "character." its bc, as you seemingly admit, hes a proselytizing grandstanding holier than thou. its shouldnt be surprising or negative that in this day and age rational ppl dont want GAWD shoved down their throats.

You sound holier than thou deciding what is or isn't rational

Link to a time that he acted "holier than thou"?

Troy Polamalu randomly shows up at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He just comes. People find him in rooms with the kids at times with no announcement whatsoever.

How about a link to God being shoved down your throat? RIDICULOUS STATEMENTSee, when a guy like Tebow tells his feelings about God, then people like you get offended somehow. Why, I can't even imagine. Are you that sensitive and lacking in confidence? Are you worried his words will rub off on you? GROW UP

It's unfortunate that God has to become the topic every time Tebow is mentioned, but I guess it's to be expected. The bottom line is, whether Tebow is a Christian or an atheist, he did a great thing for a very sick kid, and there is ZERO doubt in my mind that he would have done the exact same thing had no cameras been present to document the meeting.

Exactly.People need to get over the religion thing. I'm hardcore athiest and tune out the stuff he talks about with god and all that. But, I really don't think he's a phony whatsoever. Really good character guy from everything I've read and heard. I root for him.

im not offended. i judge him as a holier than thou with an agenda due to his public statements and how the media has portrayed him. i could be wrong about his complicity in such a portrayal. he may be a grate guy, im not sure. all i know is wat ive seen and heard and that is taht he is a grate christian virgin and erryone shud root for him for those reasons.

as i write that, i realize i am giving him the same treatment the cutler haters engage in. so, mebbe i shudnt believe everything i read from the media and mebbe tebow is a genuinely grate and humble guy who isnt solely invested in stealing tds from his rbs and painting himself in a proper light to proselytize for the 2nd biggest religion curently on earth.

Others players do this but it doesn't look as genuine? Even if his skills arn't greatest NFL QB of all time, they are better than the average back-up and equal to maybe half the starters in the NFL currently? Then count in the legs, the leadership and now add things like this fluff piece, which seems a true part of personality that would make people around him work a little harder, jump a little higher to make that catch or push a little stronger to protect his back. Not saying hes MVP or will ever be but should be a very solid NFL qb when counting the intangibles. Fantasy wise, Worthy of a 1st overall or top QB prolly not, especially in leagues where int's hurt but should be a QB1 for a 12 team league once he is the starter which should be this year if not out of the gate.

Read on Twitter...first person at Broncos facility this morning as it opened?

Tebow

Also heard Locker was the first at Titans facilities.

Good job by both.

he seems to be a good person but he's a lousy QB for an NFL team.
I don't think so. I was one of the ones who voted "Will never amount to anything" or whatever that poll option was back when he was drafted. But he looked surprisingly effective to me. Surprisingly. He will never be a classic dropback QB and he'll never sling it around like Dan Marino, but he has other strengths. Incredible mobility, hard to bring down, leadership, desire and all the intangibles in the world. If his coaches don't ask him to be something he's not, he can be a successful QB.
I think the coaching change will help him just for that--Fox won't ask him to carry the offense; that's up to the RB's. But that will set him up for some pretty nice numbers as needed provided he has quality receivers in the offense.
Never understood the Tebow hate. Great guy, probably just an average NFL quarterback. I hate the Broncos but have been rooting for Tebow to do well since Day 1. Athletes in the news all the time for getting in trouble with the law...a lot of athletes though do good things for the world and Tebow is one of the front runners here and great example of how you can act and conduct yourself of you want to. I'm not religious at all so I just kind of ignore the god stuff, I guess some just have a problem ignoring it and get all offended when someone expresses his views - to me, it just doesn't phase me. Good for him if that's what he believes.
Agreed on all counts.

Its being broadcast because ESPN/ Disney has a huge connection with Make-A-Wish and they are using a major figure for the story. Plus his story, for me at least, was one of the saddest I have ever seen. The fact he had a possible future in sports, the getting sick, and the wanting to die was just too much.P.S. My daughter fought cancer and we were provided a Wish and went to Disney World. So take my feelings for whatever.
Sorry to hear that. That's heartbreaking. Kudos for Disney and Make-A-Wish; they do some really fine work.

Why is this pinned?
My question exactly. But as long as we're on the topic of stand-up young guys in the NFL, this story about Mark Sanchez tells me all that I need to know about him. His actions throughout this story (continued calls, texts, etc. to the kid when he didn't have to, and no one was really watching) seem truly genuine. Never really liked/disliked the guy before--but am now a BIG fan. His folks raised him right...

Maybe that's why pinned, for a little perspective.

Or maybe it was a goof?

I like his work ethic. He may have a long way to go in the process of transforming from talented, but raw QB prospect to a legitimate NFL starter, but if he fails it won't be because of his desire, drive, and work ethic:

From Twitter:

Adam Schefter

First Bronco in the building at 8:01 this morning? Tim Tebow. Of course

I think Tebow is a great guy. If I had a fantasy "good people" league, he'd be my first overall pick. He can come over to my house and babysit my kids anytime. I don't like him on my fantasy football team though. Am I an ### for that or just the guy that's going to kill the Tebow owner in my league this year?
