EB: not one of your better polls.

Chambers Brothers in a walk, even if you go with the neutered AM radio version.

Apples and oranges. Kinda like asking which is the better film "The Wizard of Oz" or "Silence of the Lambs"

Tough call because they're such entirely different songs. The raw, Stones-like feel of Time Has Come against the bubblegum pop sound of Sugar Sugar.

I'm going to go against the grain and vote for the Archies because I'm a sucker for a huge hook and this song takes me back to my childhood. It's just a happy song.

I'm-a ride Jr's coattails in this one, both because he's right and it gives me a chance to rail against AOR radio one more time

(takes breath)

#### Lee Abrams right up in his tight playlist #######. He ruined free form radio and deserves a special place in the worst Hell for doing so. By slobbing on Jann Wenner's knob, he basically corrupted every radio format from here on until forever.

"Time Has Come Today" is an ok song, but records like this got cut because Rolling Stone hated George Clinton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeNkRuYHy8k That's a better "rock" song than anything else released that year.

Lester Bangs v. Lou Reed

"It was dog####. Why don't you get off all this crap and just try being banal for a change? Why doncha write a song like Sugar, Sugar? That'd be something worthwhile!"

"I don't know how. I would if I could... l wish I'd written it..." Jeez, the poor ******* was getting so pathetic even his overwhelming maudlin streak was beginning to get to me! Like all the last year every time his name comes up all you hear is "Poor Lou!" Poor Lou, poor Lou, poor poor poor Lou Reed! You wouldn't wanna be in his shoes! The tortured artist! The poor hamstrung sensibility! But I was too drunk for brakes, so I got even more personal and abusive: "Hey Lou, why doncha start shooting speed again? Then you could come up with something good!"

I don't know what any of this means.

I think he meant because it was indecipherable, not because it was arcane.
