One Page Depth Charts (1 Viewer)

Jonathon Arbo sent us an excellent Excel App that creates one-page printable depthcharts pulled from our data. We will eventually post this on the website, but for now I am also providing the link to the zipped file.

Here are the instructions for the program:

1. Unzip the .xls program using Winzip, PKUnzip, etc

2. Openup the spreadsheet (Macros must be enabled) 3. The sheet will open to the '2007 Printable' tab 4. Press the update button for the Macro to go to the internet and get the latest depth chart from Footballguys (Internet connection required) 5. Click Enter when it asks to replace the cell contents 6. Press the "Make Data Printable" button to update the 1 page sheet 7. Click enter when it asks to replace cell contents (there are several times this is asked at this point) 8. The 1-page sheet is updated and ready to print

I have found that this 1-page sheet comes in very handy at snagging the #1 WR in a good system while your leaguemates are still drafting 'name' guys that are buried in the depth chart. Having all of the teams' bye weeks also helps immensely during the draft so you don't end up with 3 QBs all with the same bye.

The guy that wrote this must be some sort of genius...

Can we request improvements?Having it pull the IDP info, as well, would make this just about perfect.
I have had others request this and I would be more than happy to do it. How deep do you want it to be? How many DL, LB, S, etc. would be helpful? I do not play in any IDP leagues, so I have no idea how to break it down by position.

Just an FYI - Bruce has included the same sheet within Draft Dominator so that you can refer to it during the draft without having to update it with each pick. :moneybag:

This is a great thing. I was going to add to the wish list pinned thread that while I love the Depth Chart content, the way the players are arranged cuts down on the usefulness. For example, in my dynasty league we have incredibly deep rosters. Any QB2, RB2 or RB3, WR3, and most WR4 should be on a roster. One need I have is being able to go through my league's free agent list and identify any players on free agency who meet those criteria. It is a lot of work to reformat everything by hand, so the macros this is using are perfect in giving me some output I can use to combine the two lists in Excel and highlight those players that should be targeted in the auction.

Good job! :moneybag:

would love to see this for IDPs as well. i'm in a 32-team league that drafts 4 DLs, 4 LBs, & 4 DBs.

no pressure though.

I used this sheet last year and it is awesome. Very handy and for the record I won my Keep 2 league that has 15 owners. I can not say this sheet will make you win your league but it was very helpful to grab the guys that were getting playing time at a No. 2 WR position when everyone else is jumping on the guys that have bigger names but might be 4th or 5th on the depth chart.

How does the source data designate IDP positions? Are the players listed as just DL/LB/DB, like DT/DE/LB/CB/S, or is it broken out all the way to DT/NT/DE/MLB/SLB/WLB/CB/SS/FS? I'm guessing the source you're pulling from is the same info on FBGs player pages, which would just mean DL/LB/DB.If so you'd probably have to go at least 6-7 deep, if not 8, to get to most of the significant backups.

The source is being pulled from the FBG depth chart address. The breakdown is DT/DE/MLB/OLB/CB/S. I am about 1/2 way with the IDP code but I have to quit for today. Hopefully, I can get through this tomorrow. I am listing the top 2 DT, DE, MLB, OLB and the top 3 CB and S. That is 14 total people for every team which I know is overkill but since the data is already there I figured that I would go ahead and use it.

Actually, that just about covers only the starters. It's just as important to know the backups for IDPs as it is for the offensive guys (you go 3 deep on RBs and 4 deep on WRs).If it's not too much trouble, the app would be much more useful for IDPers if you could get 4 each of DT/DE/MLB/OLB/CB/S for each team. I do appreciate the time and effort you've already put in to this, though.

I am trying to get the top 3 of every position; however, I am not sure how legible this will be since that is more names to try and get on one page than the offensive positions. There is only 12 total offensive names and with 3 each of DT/DE/MLB/OLB/CB/S, there is 18 total names to squeeze on one page. I'll give it a shot though.

Of yeah, I keep forgetting about the "one-page" requirement.Maybe a "One Page Offensive Depth Chart" and "One Page Defensive Depth Chart"?

The New file with IDP players included is now finished and ready for publication. If there are any mods in the house that can replace the first post to this thread, I would be glad to send it you.

I emailed this to Clayton earlier today, but I made one minor change just now to make things a little cleaner.

There is a 1 page offensive chart and a 1 page defensive chart.

:hifive:

Dang - doesn't work on my old version of Excel (2000). It barfs on the text to columns command for some reason.

First post still not updated.

is there something new you have to do to get the IDPs to show up?

I can see them in the input, but nothing on the printable format sheet.

Sorry, I lost my interenet connection for a few days while the servers were being switched over. A mod will have to update the file on the first sheet to get the new IDP players; however, if you want me to email you a copy of the new file with IDP, shoot me a PM with your email address and I will send it.

Someone should PM Arbitrator above....He created this. If he can get a new version that works with the changes we made to the depth chart page, we can repost it

Do you guys realize that DraftDominator does this now, right? It's called the "Depth Charts Summary" and it can be printed. It will also scratch off any keepers you have designated. Very cool!

TE2 for the Rams comes up as "J. KlopfensteinDominique" for me.

It's adding Dominique Byrd's first name to the end of Kloppy's last name for some reason.

Also, dude should grab the already colour coded NFL teams column from my schedule grid to add a splash of colour and shorten the width of the column using the abbreviated team names.
