Why is fantasy sports gambling allowed but not poker?

The old POS's name is Sheldon Adelson and he has more money that all of us combined and he is willing to spend whatever it takes to keep poker offline and people gambling in the casinos. I hope he get ebola and ####s out his guts in a painful slow death.

Yeah, but he's losing his stranglehold. As pointed out, New Jersey legalized online poker and I believe Nevada and Delaware did the same. So if you live there, you can load up your Poker Stars account with money and go nuts. Hell, you can even use Neteller (remember that blessing of a company?) to fund your accounts there.

It won't be long before other states eyeball what's happening and legalize online poker for their citizens. Most states are choking on debt and bad balance sheets and you can only tax the people that live there so much. Marijuana and gambling are great sources of revenue and it won't be long before more states recognize this.

California is going to be legalizing online poker soon. Bet on it.

I don't think this is true, at least in DE. You have to play on one of the state's sites, which suck ###.

And in Jersey, you play on mostly real sites, but only versus other Jersey players. Dumb distinction and makes for a thin crowd. I play at party and the wait at times to find a spot is bad.

You can't play against people from other parts of the world?

Those people live where they can play wherever they want. So why would they waste time with a limited poker site? They are allowed to play at PokerStars, Party Poker and the easiest place to print your own money, Pacific Poker.

The main point being..why can't I, as a verified player in NJ using their geolocation software verifying me, play against any other player on their site and am instead limited to playing people from NJ only.

yeah, that was kind of the point of my question. Seems very dumb.
