Orlando for a freakin' week - help needed (1 Viewer)

Funny thing is Florida has a bunch of really good craft brewers but I can't think of one in Orlando.
Red Cypress, Hourglass and Crooked Can are probably the best of the bunch. Orlando is no Tampa Bay when it comes to breweries.

Orlando Brewing Co has some decent offerings, but you're better off looking for good beer bars than breweries there.  Nothing of interest in the area Smails is in, though.  Anything I'd recommend in terms of beer or food is a 20-30 minute cab ride/Uber.  He's far away from the better stuff.  Everything is in the Downtown/ Thornton Park / Milk District / Winter Park area.

Best advice yet.

Partied with guys from Canada last night. Instead of the hotel madness they used Airbnb to get a freakin' mini mansion for 8K for a week in Kissimmee.  As some have mentioned this is the way to go. 20 seat projection theatre room, 2 game rooms etc. Cost them less than aggregate hotel rooms
I pimped this option in the Disney thread a bunch of times, but people prefer to be on property.  I did this when I got married, we had the ceremony and a small reception at Championsgate and then adjourned to a house like this for all-night festivities.  It was big enough for all my friends to stay there, so no one had to drive anywhere.

Try the Cloak and Blaster - craft beers and unique menu items with an old-school arcade upstairs and lots of tabletop games, board games, and even some RPGs going on downstairs.

Ok. Going tomorrow. Where? Need restaurant and after spot
If you're going to Church St, Kres Chophouse is usually solid. Millions of bars in that area, the Courtesy is a craft cocktail joint that's hipster but has good drinks. You can walk around there and find something that appeals to you. Just go to the corner of Orange and Church and there are bars north on Orange and on all the surrounding streets. Casey's on Central is a popular happy hour spot. Just about everything is going to be relatively dead on a Wednesday though. There's a place called Schumann's Jager Haus on Church that has good German food & beer if that's to your taste.

Just outside downtown in the other areas I mentioned are some of my favorite restaurants in the area. Ravenous Pig, 4 Rivers Smokehouse, Tako Cheena, and Pig Floyd Urban Barbacoa. Google them for menus. Don't know what kind of spots you prefer for libations.

Closer to I Drive is Restaurant Row, lots of pricey but good options. Christini's and Eddie V's are very good but not cheap. I've heard Morimoto at Disney Springs is awesome but I've never been.

Oh, and if you go to Christini's, their violinist can play something from almost any band. He even played some Slayer last time I was there.

Hmmm.   I went there for 25 years straight but it's been 3 or 4 years since my last visit.

Church street is where all the bars are, but there should be some good restaurants on Orange Ave. I'll let others give recommendations.  I used to cover Orlando as a sales territory many, many years ago and always had a blast when I was downtown.

Just got back from 3 days. A few recommendations in this thread said hit up Charley's. I didn't go but some of my compatriots did and said it was very good. One thing I did find out, Charley's and the place I ate (Fishbones) are all owned by the same company and serve a lot of the same stuff.

Charley's, Fishbones, Moonfish, Johnnies Hideaway, Texas Cattle Company, Vito's Chop House

I also went to Roy's which was very good, 4 out of 5 stars. The restaurant at the Hilton i stayed at (Spencer's) was good as well. The beer selection blew at all three spots but there was some vanilla porter thing they served at the walk up bar that I would consider hooking up an IV to so it worked out.

Will be in town Mar 15-19th. Staying at Vista Cay condo nearby. Will likely be heading down to Church street at least one night with a buddy from work. Definitely hitting Charley's for the filet.
