Outdoor plumbing question (1 Viewer)

I want to add a spigot to the front of the house. There isn't one currently. How difficult is it to add one to a location on a house where there has never been one? Seems like it could be a real challenge. No idea.

It depends on whether you're handy at all.

I guess you would have to cut a T into a line in the basement and drill a hole in the wall to feed the spigot. Doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult

Yeah, it shouldn't be horrible. I would put a separate shutoff valve on the inside after the T, and you might have to use a freeze-out spigot (at least that's what I've heard them called) depending on your winters.

Yeah these guys got it covered.  If you're not comfortable soldering get the Sharkbite style connectors (probably 10x the cost but for a T and maybe a male or female adapter you're talking like $20)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that since your asking free for all how difficult it is, hire a plumber. Odds are you'll save money and have piece of mind. If you are knocking down 300k yr like most FBG's then i i don't think you are saving money with time spent on that job. I was a plumber in a previous life.

:goodposting: Definitely a shutoff valve.

before you start tapping into lines shut off the "main" water source.    I'm sure you know this but...............................

once you get the materials & you figure about 1 hour labor.    make it 3 hours & at least one more trip to Home Depot.

And DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT start this project after 7:00 PM on any given day. Sure as heck you will need a part the minute Home Depot closes.
