overlooked TE? (1 Viewer)

alex smith tb not great numbers but his targets and receptions were climbing before he got a little nicked up , i think he's healthy now.

How do you rank 'em for the rest of this year?

Scheffler...edge for TDs, Denver definitely passes near the goaline

Olson...getting targets but QB is ? as is late season weather

Davis...has a gawd-awful QB

.

.

King...think the other three are head and shoulders above King

I would put them...Olsen...might just be the best receiving option in ChicagoDavis...no real reason why, I just think he will get plenty of targetsScheffler...a solid player, but that team has several other receiving options. Might get Rod Smith and Javon back soon.King...Going to get a good amount of catches with Carr at QB. When Vinny comes back his value will dip a tad.

If LJ Smith get's back to full health he could be considered.
Especially because it is a contract year and he is going to want to perform well. Even if the Eagles have meaningless games in December, he will play hard.

Alex Smith - not gawd awful. he's mediocre. it's the SF offensive line that is the cause for EVERYONE'S woes. It's the same Alex Smith as before, but you'll note Gore isn't even doing squat.

I second the LJ Smith nomination. He appears to finally be healthy - and the Eagles have sorely missed his playmaking ability at the TE position. He could have an excellent second half, especially considering his contract motivation.

This guy right here will be the WW steal in re-drafts and outright robbery for those who got him off waivers in a Dynasty format, which seemed more common than not.

I feel really good about Scheffler. I have been picking up and dropping TE's all year long. McMichael, Lee, McMichael again, Brady, now Scheffler. I have a feeling I'm going to keep him the remainder of the year. I don't think I've gotten more than like 3 fantasy points a week from any of my TE's. I'm still 7-1 so I can live with some up and down points if I can get a TD once in a while that would be nice.

Picked Scheffler up two weeks ago in both of my leagues, 1 dynasty :lmao: and 1 redraft. He's my backup to Gates in dynasty and my primary TE in my redraft. I may actually end up starting Scheffler as my WR/TE flex in my dynasty league since we get 2PPR for TEs (vs. only 1PPR for WRs) if he keeps up his current production.

:hot: he has 10 catches in the 6 games he's played.he's ONLY seeing more action,b/c Denver has no other option at the moment.and he STILL only has 10 catches to his name!not one single denver Te lived up to expectations since Sharpe left.not one. Add Scheffler to that list.

:lmao:I guess its a permanent affliction there at TE in Denver, then.

And you had to put this in ANOTHER thread. Viewing once was bad enough. What's your point sharpshooter? By your logic, there's no shot Daniels pans out either. Current Houston head Gary Kubiak ran that Denver offense...Some of us like what we see between Cutler/Scheffler for the time they've been together and see many owners gave up on him early because he broke his foot in the offseason and did nothing early on.If you like Daniels, great. Stop making yourself look like a permamoron in the process.

Would you explain why you see King as "head and shoulders" below the rest?In my PPR league he has done better than all three:King =61 pointsOlsen, 58 pointsScheffler=33 pointsDavis=41 pointsSo, I suppose a case could be made for the others based upon King having a really bad QB situation (so do Davis and Olsen, however). But I don't see how one could conclude that the others are "head and shoulders" better; if they are, why he is doing better than all of them?

I think you owe Mr. Griese an apolgy for putting him in the same ballpark as David Carr

Is this the same Mr. Griese who is now with his fourth team and lost previous starting gigs to Jake Plummer, Jay Fiedler, Chris Simms, and who tooks a couple of years to beat out Rex Grossman? He isn't exactly winning any awards with his play this year either.

He can at least get a Bears unit with half the talent of Carolina to Move the ball. Carr is a sad, sad QB option. Lost a job to a 43 year old.

You're absolutely right. Taking a brief statistical glance: eliminating games not played altogether, eliminating high and low games altogether and coming up with a median for reception and yardage; all these guys are about equal. Scheffler takes a slight nod if you consider tds scored in total games played. But that advantage is eliminated if you consider that King has played twice the games. In other words, Scheff is a bigger injury risk. I guess it's all a personal preference call. Davis, Olsen and Scheffler seem to be surging a bit. King has been there all year but only scored one TD. Davis, early on was a huge disappointment then got hurt. Scheffler hasn't had a healthy run but seems to be a REDZONE target with some upside if he can stay healthy. I'll re-rank 'em with closer evaluationOlsen, with big upside for recent play and pedigreeScheffler for TDsDavis, with upgrade to #1 spot if qb can show some consistencyKing with a bump above all but Olsen if you get a PPR. King with a big bump for consistency. He's right there with the others, definitely not head and shoulders below upon closer inspection. All are basically #2 TEs. 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d. I personally like Olsen and Scheff at the top THIS YEAR. Just my gutt.

Scheffler...a solid player, but that team has several other receiving options. Might get Rod Smith and Javon back soon.
Rod's gone for the season, and Javon has at least another 3 weeks to go from the estimates that I've heard.

In 2000, Dwayne Carswell was the #8 fantasy TE. In 2001, Desmond Clark was the #4 fantasy TE AND Byron Chamberlain was the #7 fantasy TE (and Carswell came in 16th, giving Denver three different top-16 TEs in just one season). You're right- it's not one TE who has lived up to expectations... it's three.
