Owen Daniels - what says the Shark pool? (1 Viewer)

I don't get to watch much Texans football. Just looking at the week by week stats, surface level analysis is that Daniels's targets and catches went up as their receivers got hurt and are now tailing off as some WRs step up their play and others get healthy.

He was a starting TE in my league's scoring system going into today (he will obviously drop). What do people think going forward, especially as AJ returns? How TE friendly is the offense? Does it seem like they ever have plays where he is option #1?

I don't know about Houston, but in Denver, Kubiak ran an offense that produced 10 top-10 TEs in its first 9 seasons (not a typo- in 2001, Desmond Clark ranked 4th, Byron Chamberlain ranked 7th... and Dwayne Carswell still ranked 16th, to boot). This was despite the offense featuring a couple of halfway-decent receivers (Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey) and a lot of not-so-great QBs (Bubby Brister, Brian Griese, Gus Frerotte, Jake Plummer).Again, I can't comment too much on the specifics of Houston's situation, but Kubiak loves him some TEs.

I think it's friendly. He wasn't getting ANY targets once Rosenfels stepped in for about 2 quarters. Then, he started getting targets on his average pace. I didn't have the game on my area, but my guess is that they were pulling him to help block for the backup QB for his first few drives.

He did block more than usual b/c the OL was awful today. He's still a solid TE to have despite today, but the lack of TDs is disturbing. As far as how he'll do when AJ returns, I think he'll be about the same as he's been this season. He's more of a matchup guy, not a guy you build your offense around. Week 1 he was non-existent, Week 2 he was an important part of the offense b/c he was a better matchup against the CAR LBs than he was against KC's LBs. IMO, he's a lower TE1-type in 12 team leagues. If he could ever get some TDs he'd be just a notch below the great ones...
