First year in a pay league fantasy baseball league. Curious if I should pick up any of these players just dropped.

Im short at pitching its a 10 team league.

My roster:

Posada

Derek Lee

Robinson Cano

M. Tejada

A Rod

Jason Bay

Ichiro Suzuki

Tori Hunter

Bonds (U)

B. Sheets

Beckett

C. Hamels

Jason Jennings

Greg Maddux

J. Papelbon

B. Wickman

Bench Includes:

Ian Kinsler

Eric Chavez

Frank Thomas

Pedro Martinez

C. Wang (NYY)

Mark Prior

As you can see Im short at pitching. Im not sure how long I can hold on to Pedro and Prior. Should I drop either one or Chavez for:

Padilla, Vicente

Suppan, Jeff

Buehrle, Mark

Oilver Perez

or anyone else you think may be on the waiver.

Thanks guys.

I actually like Beuhrle this year (most people dont). So you may ignore my advice. But I dont see how you can keep a guy like Prior or Martinez (this is not a keeper league is it?). Id pick up Suppan and Beuhrle and drop the 2 I mentioned. Martinez wont be back until after the AS break (probably in August) and I doubt he will be 100%. He wont help you much at all this year. I think you need more roster flexibility and you get that by dropping those 2.

Would you start Suppan and Beurhrle over any of the pitchers I have listed?Wins are 10, Saves are 10 etc.

I might start either over Hamels BUT the fact is eventually you are going to need another pitcher and if you have no DL slot than holding onto Martinez AND Prior will be VERY difficult to do. Why not keep one on the bench for now?

Id probably start either over Hamels
Yeah I went back an edited my quote. I think picking them up for depth and seeing if they breakout is the correct option. I made a mistake when I said Id start them over Hamels. To answer his question I would not start them over anybody right now. When I said Hamels I was thinking Gavin Floyd but I was doing something else at work at the time.

Dump Prior, grab the Boof. He's definitely worth prospecting on. Oliver also worth a try to see if he can pull it together in NY. Buehrle would be my 3rd choice. Also couldn't hurt to grab Benitez since your closer situation is a little tenuous. I'm not a fan, but he'll get you some saves.

Id drop Hunter, make Bonds OF, and plug in Thomas at Util. Add Benitez, Garza, Beuhrle. Drop Prior, Martinez, Hunter.

But thats just me.

Just picked up Boof for Pedro

Looking at one more.

Prior for either Burherle, Garza, Benetiz, or Perez.

I dont need to even start a RP.

I start 7 Pitchers

I get 10pts per save, 10pts per win, 2pts per inning, 1pt per K,

-0.5 per hit allowed. -1 for ERA.

Snell will be a good one

So many different options you guys are giving me.

Its not a keeper league. I should have studied up a bit before shelling out some money. Its just a minor work league fee. All for fun. Hoping I can compete.

Picked up Boof, Snell and Greinke. Stashed them on the bench with Wang. I see Snell faces Jennings tonight. I figure to start the winner of that matchup next week.

I dropped Chavez for Snell. Arod is my 3B.

B. Sheets

Beckett

C. Hamels

Jason Jennings

Greg Maddux

J. Papelbon

B. Wickman

I like these moves. I hate to say it, but Chavez is probably below-replacement and not worth much in a ten-teamer, and I don't see him breaking into your DH spot.Nice pick up with Greinke.

ETA - Kip Wells STL available.
I was at the Cards/Mets game tonight and Wells was pitching tonight. I thought he did pretty decent as he allowed 1 earned run (if I recall) and had 7 k's, but the problem is that he had 100+ pitches and only pitched 5 innings. He didn't allow many hits, but his control was a little shaky at times.I do like his potential going forward, though. If you have an open roster spot you can allocate for pitching, I'd strongly consider taking a flyer on him.

Oliver Perez is a deep sleeper in mixed leagues. Don't go for him unless you're in dire need of an SP with a chance to do well. Perez has to go out there and prove he can keep his pitches in control before you should grab him in a 12 team mixed league. He needs to be watched closely, though. I have high hopes this year on him.

Shouldve listened to me
