According to Ed Werder, Dallas will trade their 4th round pick for Pacman. Just saw it on SC.

i still don't think this will change dallas' draft board. for a 4th he's worth a shot. fisher said pacman was a good teammate. they just need to find him a place to live inside the staium with locks on the outside of the doors.

Here's what I wrote in my shortly to be deleted as HONDA thread -
For a fourth rounder this year with escalators if he plays and/or plays well.

No physical link yet - just saw it on Sportscenter.....

Details as they come - Dallas is assuming they may not have him and will draft accordingly...
So I think you are dead right.* edited to add - I thought I could delete the thread but I guess not - so we'll let it float to the bottom....

I think Jerry Jones is still bitter about not taking Moss when he came in with baggage, and now Jones is willing to try and work with things. As a Dallas fan, I like it a lot with the upside he affords.

Not alot of risk for Dallas. They aren't going to draft a 4th rounder that could get them to the Super Bowl. Pacman is explosive enough to be that missing link. Devin Hester/like and he can actually play shutdown corner.

That being said, as a Titans fan, it's good to just get something out of the guy.

He's been in Nashville getting in trouble for three years. Now you're putting him in Dallas! Wow.

Great deal for the Cowboys. I now believe the Cowboys are likely to make big offers for one of the 3 Wr's and to potentially move up....not down in the draft. There are very few rosters spots open on this club. Jerry will make 1 more big splash.

:lmao:

I was beginning to think that he was coming back to the Titans. I am really glad Pacman is out of the AFC South (and the entire conference for that matter). Outside of Payton Manning, there is no player in that division that wreaked more havoc on the field than Pacman Jones (when he suited up, of course).

REPORT: TITANS, COWBOYS AGREE ON PACMAN TRADE

Posted by Michael David Smith on April 23, 2008, 6:41 p.m.

ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the Titans and Cowboys have finally agreed in principle on the terms of a trade that would give the Cowboys the rights to suspended cornerback Pacman Jones.

Per Werder, the Titans will receive the Cowboys’ fourth-round pick in this weekend’s draft. The Cowboys could also end up sending additional compensation to the Titans, depending on whether Jones is reinstated and, if he is, how much playing time he gets. Jones will sign a new contract with the Cowboys; he will pay $500,000 to a charity of the Titans’ choosing as part of a financial settlement with the Titans.

If Jones is still suspended a year from now, the Titans will send an undisclosed 2009 draft pick back to the Cowboys.

The big question is whether Jones will ever be allowed back in the league, and whether the revelation this week that he paid hush money to the man arrested for a strip club shooting will have any bearing on his reinstatement.

Asked about that yesterday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, “I only know what I’ve read about that. Just take that on its face.”

that is it, I am no longer a Cowboy fan. F Jerry Jones
 No room for fair weather fans. Great deal, almost risk free and for a 4th if he plays. Seriously how many draft choices even make this team? Name me a team with 3 better CB's....not to mention his return abilities.

Pac Man is a STUD. This is a fantastic deal for Dallas on paper. Now he just needs to be re-instated, which I think is far from a sure thing at this point.

I think Dallas would have made a big offer for a wr even if they did not have Adam Jones. I think one of them first rounders would be offered for sure. I still see them staying where they are if they do not trade cause they still need a rb and another def back. Kenny Phillips could be targeted now with Pacman on board. I think Felix Jones, Kenny Phillips or best cb available sense there are so many good ones. Then a wr in the second round. They could also get a wr in the first if all the trades offers fall through and then go rb in the second round. CB in the 3rd. Will Dallas address the backup qb in this draft? I thought maybe in the 4th but not know sense they traded it for Pacman.

Pacman Jones will have an impact on the Dallas defense much like Randy Moss had on the New England offense. This is a huge trade for Dallas, masked by the fact that Pacman is still suspended (for the time being). The days of picking on Jacques Reeves for easy big plays are gone. Good luck to opposing QBs' picking their poison between Terrance Newman and Pacman Jones. Better coverage in the secocondary also means more time for Demarcus Ware, and we all know all he needs is a second or two more on many plays to get the QB.

Denver has 3 better CBs.
:shrug:Not even close. Toss in that Denver doesn't have a return man NEAR as good as Jones and the Cowboys just stole Pac from Tennessee.
Who are the three Cowboy d'backs? Newman < Champ; Anthony Henry < Dre Bly and Pac Man is not on the roster anyway......I would also say the Eagles have better corners than the Slowboys.....
LOL at this, that is about all that Denver has on the Boys and that is open for debate . Denver can't hold the Cowboys Jock. Good luck even getting to the playoffs Denver. :moneybag:

Or someone gives up on their team when they bring in 1 player you may not like.Catch ya later Francis. This is why sometimes Cowboy fans get a bad rap, hell everyone in the 90's was a fan. Well I was there for 1-15.....and been struggling through some rough years lately. You take the good with the bad. I heard the same crap when we signed TO....now all the Cowboy love him.

I am sooooo on board with Kenny Phillips.

As a Jags fan I'm thrilled with this deal. As much of bum as that guy is off the field he is a freakin' pain in the #### to play against. Thank you Jerry Jones!

You guys act like he's already been reinstated. This guy is a bigger thug than Chris Henry. He'll be lucky not to be in jail within a year much less playing pro bowl football for Dallas.

Dallas (AP) - Following the news of the trade for Pacman Jones the Dallas Cowboys have announced changes in both thier home and away uniforms. The home uniforms will be orange and the away uniforms will be black and white striped.

it will be funny is the commish does not reinstate him

Further details as I understand them;

Tenn gets Dallas' 4th this year. If Pac plays a certain amount this year, then Tenn also gets Dallas' 6th rounder next year. If Pac doesnt play this year, then Tenn sends their next year's 4th to Dallas.

At worst, Dallas pushes a 4th rounder into next year. At best, Dallas gets a pro bowl level CB and punt returner (both major needs) for a 4th rounder this year and a 6th rounder next year. As a Cowboy fan, this works for me!

Now to get Calvin Hill in touch with Adam........

Do you really think Jerry Jones makes this deal without feeling very confident that he's gonna be reinstated?

You do realize he's stayed out of jail for an entire year while NOT playing and having a lot of free time. I think he'll do fine. He'll be reinistated, no doubt.

Please. Quit your Bible-thumping. Jarred Allen, a DUI waiting to happen, just became the highest paid defensive player in the league. Go knock on doors elsewhere.

Its a terrific move for Dallas and Jones - after all the way to build teams in the NFL is to add big time free agents - just ask the Redskins and Danny Snyder. He will be perfect for the teams chemistry... :clyde:

So if he doesn't play this year and Dallas gets their 4th round draft pick pack next year. At that point who has rights to him if he ends up being reinstated next year?

I would not equate risking a 4th and possibly 6th round pick as a major risk. Sure he taking a chance, but he's risking very little to get a guy that is pretty amazing when he's healthy and not suspended.

i agree it is not much of a risk but I just do not understand why any NFL team would want this guy, talented or not. I am sure i will still cheerer for the cowboys once the season rolls around but the NFL should black ball this guy

If I am correct Pacman just gave up 7 mil by ripping up his contract. He signed a new contract where if he screws up he gets nothing. I think he is going to stay on the straight and narrow.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This from ESPN

Jones has agreed to a restructured contract with the Cowboys. Sources told Werder that it will be a four-year contract with no guaranteed money. By restructuring instead of transferring his existing deal, Jones gives up nearly $7 million in guaranteed base salaries over the next three years.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Cowboys just stole the rest of the league. This guy has 7 million reasons to get it right this time or he will really look stupid, Dallas on the other hand will just get back there 4th rounder next season. So have fun wishing and hoping and praying that Pacman screws up or does not get reinstated cause for me as a Dallas fan it hurts Dallas very little and we are still a top team without him . I love all the hate that is when I know Dallas did something that is scaring these fools.

Awesome move period.

total steal, especially with the new contract and the swap a pick back next year if he doesn't play. Its like they get him for a trail run, if he screws up they can just cut him and say we wanted to give him another chance and he blew it, no one will miss a 4th rounder, if he stays out of trouble they have a heck of a player for real cheap.

Love that people think its such a steal and a great deal.

You do realize that while talented, nobody in the Titans locker room missed the guy...the defense got better without him...and with the most recent news...there is no guarantee he will ever see the field right?

He may not play, correct. If he does it costed DAL a 4th rounder. Not a bad risk vs reward. Even thugs deserve a second chance. Adam knows this is his last chance, so does DAL and so does the NFL. He may not make it, DAL already said they are not counting on it. In fact they already said this does not affect their draft strategy, so I bet they draft S and CB in the first few rounds. Hell, I hope they take Phillips and a CB with both 1st rounders. They can get help at RB and WR later in the draft or through free agency.

Adam has known it was his last chance several times.Nothing has changed
