Pacquiao vs Bradley ...gonna be a good one! (1 Viewer)

Typical identikit: whenever I get criticized for dumb reasons by people who didn't bother to read what i actually wrote, you're eager to jump on that bandwagon. Have at it.

Ahh, other people are dumb but they actually watched the fight, and you didn't see the fight and 'can't comment' but do anyways.

Bolded, please. I'm not calling other people dumb, either. You maybe.

After the fight results were given, some posters in here made some very sweeping comments about the history of boxing, and how this fight represented a significant change or demise in boxing for the worst. I tried to point out that this wasn't the case; boxing has a long history of terrible decisions. I never commented on the fight itself, and I never attempted to rank the fight in terms of how bad a decision it was compared to others. How could I? My only point was that this was not the first time a terrible decision was made.

dumb reasons does not equal dumb people. You ought to try reading for a change.

Karma is a mofo. Manny is eating it hard. He should have lost his last fight on the card. But he didn't because the boxing machine is in his corner.

Boxing nowadays always seems to be about the next fight. Pro boxing is living check to check. Arum desperately needed this sequel. What better way to sell it....by having manny lose. Otherwise the next contender would have been.....nobody. The mayweather fight is not going to happen for some time.

Boxing has milked Manny for almost a decade. Riding their only franchise remaining.

I am glad manny lost. He needs this kick in the face to rebuild the hunger to win. Considering how he has looked in the last 3 or 4 fights. He is not going to beat mayweather. And I am a manny fan.

Hopefully this kick in the nuts. Sets him straight onto a better path.

This would be an absolutely awesome post if Manny hadn't gone out and totally beaten the snot out of Bradley.

Just finished watching the fight, but didn't see round 4. I didn't think it was as lopsided as some of the commentators, I guess. I had it 7-4 Pac for the 11 rounds I saw, with Bradley winning a handful near the end of the fight.

Pac deserved the win from what I saw, and this is one in a string of questionable judging decisions, but it's not such that I'll swear off watching boxing altogether.

For me, the saddest part of the entire thing is that Tdoss' speculation about Arum and match-fixing is a legitimately plausible thought. That's the biggest shame of all. There's always going to be a question of match-fixing in a sport ultimately decided by judges like boxing is, but when match-fixing is in the discussion as much as it is here, it really marginalizes the sport even further.

I gotta feel like Manny making Bradley wait would be extra motivation to come in even angrier, as if he wasn't ready to do battle already. Almost like calling a waiter Garcon in my mind, completely disrespectful.
Manny was watching the celtics game...now hes warming up
I know that, they've only said it like 20 times. But if I was Bradley, I'd feel completely disrespected. That'd light a fire under my butt like none other before a major fight. We'll see, but it's intriguing.
When was the fight supposed to start?? midnight starts for these big PPV are almost getting to be commonplace. Its not like Bradley is waiting in the ring for him.
Midnight? I think it's around 9 p.m. in Vegas.
Yeah, midnight east coast. You know what I mean :banned:
hour and a half from last call?
36 minutes from Pacman's first loss :boxing:ETA: first loss in awhile :lmao:

SIgh. He wrote that in response to my response to the question, "What has boxing become?" When I supplied that list, I made it quite clear in the very next post that I was not ranking this fight in terms of the others. I was only providing the list to demonstrate that the question "what has boxing become?" really didn't apply.

Good. Why are you wasting time posting about it? Why are you quoting me twice in your sig? I've never understood why people pay so much ####### attention to this stuff.
you mean paying attention like watching the fight in question?

this just tells me that for whatever reason Pac/Mayweather is not likely to happen soon, so this is the best way to create another big money bout. The rematch will be big money. Another boxing fix.

I see this alot. Why would anyone watch that again? Pay for it at that? I for one will not.

Fight promoter Bob Arum said after the bout that he heard from ticket brokers who said they would have trouble selling seats to a Bradley rematch because most fight watchers considered the World Boxing Organization welterweight title bout on Saturday at the MGM Grand a one-sided Pacquiao victory."The brokers are telling us if we make a Bradley rematch, no one will go," Arum said.

Not sure if this is true. But I wouldn't doubt it. Apparently this fight was Manny's last fight under Bob Arum. His contract is going to be up.

Manny can have the freedom to fight whom ever he likes and control all monies generated by his side of a fight.

Arum, however, since he is the promoter of Bradley will control one side of the rematch purse. And his fighter, bradley, now holds the championship belt. And has some leverage against manny because of the rematch clause.

Makes sense that Manny would prefer to fight Marquez, leaving Arum left out of a huge fight. For the first time in almost a decade.

edit: found this after posting. Heard my story from my uncle with close ties to manny. Yes we are filipino. Runs along the same lines.

first off, I am a manny fan. Fully support him. And only want the best.Despite Manny mostly dominating Bradley. He doesn't have the look of a fighter capable of beating Floyd Mayweather. If they were to fight tomorrow. I would easily bet on Flloyd to win. Straight up, manny pacquiao does not have the same ferocity in the ring. Luckily for manny, he has been getting by while half-assing it. And its unacceptable.

One of the two veteran judges at the centre of the controversy – Ford – broke his silence on Monday to defend himself. He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he stands by his decision. “I thought Bradley gave Pacquiao a boxing lesson," he said. "I thought a lot of the rounds were close. Pacquiao missed a lot of punches and I thought he was throwing wildly."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: What lesson would that be? How to get hit 100 times more often, and with harder shots, then you dish out?

exactly what happened ...the only reason people would say it was close was the fact that bradley was never really hurt during the fight and i credit that to his amazing conditioning. The fight itself was never close.Pacman totally out punched timmy.

huge lock bet. close to zero chance Paq loses unless he gets cut and has a bad start. There is no way the judges will score against him after the last fight.

get out the CC's, cash out your 401K, this is the boxing gods giving everyone except the most brain dead free money.

I don't think it's brain dead money at all. I'm actually leaning Bradley. Despite what we thought, there were a decent number of boxing experts ringside that thought Bradley did win. The HBO team seemed to really be hard on Pac, but that doesn't mean they were right.
