Paint Sprayer (1 Viewer)

Does anyone own or have used an airless paint sprayer?

I am in the process of planning a bunch of minor renovations to my house, mostly involving paint, and I'm wondering how well these work. I don't think I need something substantial that requires a separate compressor, just something that I can use to lay even coats of paint over large areas, as well as things like cabinets. I'm hoping that spending a couple hundred on one of these will reduce my time and any potential need for a professional.

So far I'm liking the Graco 360 line of products.

Any thoughts?

I bought one of the Wagner ones from Lowes for like $100-120.  Painted the basement ceiling which would have been a real PIA with all the wiring and pipes and hard to reach spots.  Worked really great for that.  Just have to cover EVERYTHING with plastic because there will be paint particles everywhere.  Make sure you clean it really good after every use.

I have a Titan sprayer made to sit over a 5 gallon bucket of paint.  They work well for large areas.  However, prep becomes more time consuming and much more important.  So, for smaller areas, it tend to actually take more time. It does produce a better/smoother finish for cabinets and moldings.

Same one worked well for me as well.

+1

Plus they are a ##### to clean.

I work at an equipment rental company. Unless you plan on using over the years just rent one. Nothing wrong with owning one but as was mentioned they are a PITA to clean. If you don't do it religiously every time you use it, you might as well chuck it. Graco makes a good unit but their customer support blows goats, we used to buy from them but it was bad we switched over to Titan. For what you are doing a cheap Wagner would probably be perfect.

Thanks for responding!

I've thought about renting, just wonder if my on and off use over the next several months will cost more than buying one. I don't think I'm going to get to it and paint my whole set of projects in one fell swoop.

I saw a couple of rental prices and it was more to rent for a week than to buy. I suppose I might be able to recoup some of the cash by selling it afterwards.
