Passed over for promotion (1 Viewer)

Semi-update: Today was interview day. Two candidates. I know the guy they wanted turned down the job in the room. Second guy didn't seem happy when he left the room. He was an outside candidate, used to work here, and his brother is a co-worker of mine. Second candidate told his brother that he (2nd) believes he blew the interview. Interesting. Probably get guy 1 in the seat in the next few days for a significant bump in pay, but it is still interesting to watch.

I hate it here....
There was an episode of Arrested Development where Michael Bluth ( Jason Bateman) announced he was tired of the Bluth family, their problems, and trying to fix everything his father and family destroyed. He kept saying he wanted to leave, no one cared. He said everything would fall to shreds without him. No one cared. He came back. In the end, he wanted to be needed and simply was the kind of person who liked to enable other people but resent them for it.

I'd worry less about where you will work next or what happens at your job compared to why you are the kind of person who enables your own resentment. You hate it there, but you are there.

Finding peace comes from the inside. True happiness, if it can be found, comes from the inside. And no one can take that from you, it's only something you give away.

Something I've learned with age is how to just try to be content and grateful for the things I have right now, given the time and place. Gratitude is a skill a lot of people still need to learn. Hopefully you'll learn faster than I did. If it's any solace, look around these forums, there are people who will never understand it.

If you are looking to become a manager (assumption on my part) you need to show them you can lead.

It has NOTHING to do with your production. This is a huge fallacy and leads to top producers who are HORRIBLE managers getting promoted to jobs they are incompetent at.

I would never promote someone just based on production in their current job.
This. We have a lot of terrific engineers in our company that we would never consider for management. The skills are not necessarily interchangeable.
