If that is your only comment about Driver and Harrison shouldn't they be a whole lot closer (either up or down)?

King isn't very good at evaluating players. What he does well is getting info from GM's, coaches, etc and relaying that info to the public.

A few years ago he was raving about Shane Matthews in the Washington offense and how he had a shot to be one of the top QB's in the NFL.

I like Tarvaris (a lot) but not ahead of a guy that ran for 1200 last season (in his first year as a starter).

He lost me at Julius Peppers at 4. And I like Julius Peppers...he's obviously a great DE. But he's been in the league for 5 years and averaged less than 11 sacks a game. Solid player. Definitely a game-planning factor. Probably top 25 or so. Fourth? No. PK is as usual seeing things that everyone else doesnt. Personally, Im not sure I like Tom Brady over Tomlinson right now.

You cant hate King too much on a top500 list. And its going to be off in most people's eyes no matter how it sizes it up.

I finally had a chance to read this on my commute home last night.

First, let me say that having a little experience with ranking players and projecting them, what he's trying to do isn't easy. When you rank 500 NFL players, there are going to be a LOT more people second-guessing you than agreeing with you obviously. So I genuinely applaud him for the effort; it was an auspicious endeavor to be sure.

Now, as with many things, the concept was far better than the execution. Some absolutely indefensible rankings on there. I think objectively if you just ranked each team and compared them, any fan of that team would have MAJOR issues with who King thinks are the best. And that's not even taking into effect the mess he creates when he has to bring all 32 team's together for this list.

A fun read, but something I'm pretty surprised SI was willing to give so much run in one of their best selling issues of the year. A four page gatefold, for this? YIKES.

This love affair with the return man du jour cracks me up each and every year. How many times has the league's best return man become a fantasy curiosity the following year, as the coaches decide to "try him on offense."

Those who think Devin Hester is that good a player need to think back on...

As much as I am a Seahawks homer and think that Hass continuously gets underrated, especially this year since so many went for him early last year after the SB year, but #20 in the year is ridiculous. Top 50 maybe, but I would be hard pressed to put him in the top 4 on the team. Most important, yes absolutely, but not "best". Peter King has some interesting insights to the game but other than reporting news he's pretty forgettable. Any conjecture or fantasy insights he offers I pretty mch ignore. He may get some right, but I could make 20 predictions and 6 or 7 right.

I usually love to read your thoughts on subjects but you are way off here. Ask LT2 or E George their thoughts on L Neal. Or better yet any defensive player that has had to go heads up against him. He is a beast that linebackers fear! I've watched lots of highlights where the linebackers on the other teams go out of their way to avoid contact with him because he's such a punishing blocker. Also he was an All American wrestler and the number two ranked heavyweight in the country while he was at Fresno St.
