Peyton Manning: All Time Overrated Colt? (1 Viewer)

12 Pro Bowls, 4 MVPs, 8 Division Championships, 2 AFC Championships, 1 Super Bowl Championship & MVP, fastest ever to 50,000 yards, likely to break several all time passing records, etc. Yet, NFL.com posts an article naming him one of the ALL TIME Overrated Colts. Sorry, but he doesn't belong in a discussion of overrated players.

They want you to post the link and people to read it. It's sensationalistic BS. It worked. Congrats to the NFL.com fishing team.

Oof. Any true appreciation towards football and you have to respect Manning. NO outstanding physical qualities.....just works hard and loves the game.

I think Peyton Manning is over rated in the conversation of greatest quarterbacks of all time, but this is stupid he is either the greatest Colt ever or he is 1b with Unitas

Horrible article... Minimal facts and more opinion than anything else.

This is not to troll anyone, but the hand wringing over whether he should stay or go was pretty much pointless. That's why he's on this list. Not because he kept losing to New England in bad weather. Not because Brady always seemed to have his number. And certainly not because he has happy feet and always seemed to make a really bad throw in the fourth quarter. No, it's because when you have a chance to draft Andrew Luck and hit the reset button on your franchise instead of letting your veteran ride off into the sunset while you surround him with less-talented spare parts, you do it and never look back.
What a bunch of garbage if that is how you make an opinion. Using that logic I can argue that player X had a different opinion than me, therefore he is overrated. :bs:

I feel dumber for having read this article.

Irsays Jr. & Sr. have to be the all time (self)overrated Colts.

They traded away the entire Rams franchise for the Colts franchise, then they ran the Colts into the ground in Baltimore, then they cause all kinds of misunderstandings with the city and state of MD, then they eviscerated the fans of Baltimore by taking their team in the actual dead of night, then they blow the Elway deal, then they get lucky with Peyton Manning, then they literally have their team tank to get the next primo QB (Luck), and then they basically cut the legs out from the one guy who made the move to Indy work in the first place - Manning!

My guess is the Irsays themselves planted the story because the only people who really would say this kind of thing about Manning would be them. The Irsays resent Manning because he made the Indy location legit, no thanks to the Irsays.

Using that logic, Peyton Manning is exactly as overrated as Johnny Unitas. I mean, when you've got an aging vet with injury issues playing for a bad team, and you've got a top-2 draft pick and the chance to grab a new franchise quarterback, you have to let that aging quarterback go. And if you wring your hands over it, that quarterback is clearly overrated. So the fact that Colts fans were sad to see Manning go even though they got Luck proves Manning is overrated, and Colts fans who were sad to see Unitas go even though they got Bert Jones with the #2 overall pick prove that Unitas is overrated. Also, 49ers fans who were nervous when the franchise moved on from Joe Montana to Steve Young prove that Joe Montana was the most overrated 49er of all time, just like how Favre was the most overrated Packer of all time because some people wrung their hands about handing the reigns to Aaron Rodgers.

So there you go, America- Johnny Unitas, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and Brett Favre. The most overrated quarterbacks in NFL history, because after an average of 15 seasons and 3 MVP awards each, their respective franchises decided to go with a younger quarterback who also happened to be a very high draft pick and future MVP (well, potential future MVP in Luck's case).
