Peyton Manning dropped down about 10 spots (1 Viewer)

He went from around 10 to the 21st best player on my list. Does anyone know why this might be?

Dodds adjusted his projections a little dropping Payton roughly 8 points (depending on the scoring system.) I could see that causing him to fall two or three spots but 10 sounds too much
Not sure exactly how far he dropped from the last update to now, but I do remember him being around 10 at one point after a PD update. I do know for sure that he was tenth when i was just using the VBD Excel (Dodds only) file.

Wood dropped down Manning a bunch with the news regarding OL Tarik Glenn's retirement. I adjusted Manning and Addai's numbers a little downward.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not sure I agree with Wood, but maybe Glenn was more important to the offense than I thought.
How many passes do you think get disrupted by a pass rusher closing on Manning faster than they would have if Glenn were around? One? Two? Manning completed about 23.5 passes per game. Each dropoff of one completed pass per game is about a 4% dropoff in Manning's statistics.

Just when I think I've made a decision to take Manning at #8...are you guys just trying to screw with me? I seriously don't think this hurts his numbers that much, but I could be wrong. Seems like it would hurt the running game more than the passing game.

Gonzalez has looked great in camp so far too, so he'll have a Stokely type WR in to dump off to should the OL not hold up as well as it has in the past.

As of now, the Colts have Charlie Johnson listed at LT....a 6th rd draft pick (199th overall). With no experience and Oguh backing him up.

It appears right now that Tony Ugoh will emerge as the starting left tackle. He is the better talent and has looked pretty good so far during training camp.from our news pageJuly 30, 2007, 19:34Colts :: OLColts LT Ugoh In Starting LineupJohn Oehser, Colts.com - [Full Article]Indianapolis Colts second round draft pick LT Tony Ugoh has already cracked the starting lineup. Ugoh started at left tackle during Monday's practice. "My main concentration now is learning the system and getting the system down so I can play to the best of my abilities. The guys really helped me out with things I didn’t know. Coming into it, I’ve been learning the no-huddle calls and stuff, so that really helped me try to put the numbers with the calls," Ugoh said.I don't think he'll be awful but he is a drop off rom Glenn at this point. However if anything I believe it will have an impact on the rushing attack. Manning is too cerebral of a quarterback and he'll make sure the DE/ OLB is blocked regardless of the experience at left tackle. Manning's numbers won't be impacted by the loss of Glenn in my opinion but I would consider knocking Addai down a little.

Instead of keeping drives alive they will now have to punt thus reducing the offensive plays per game. Suddenly losing a starting LT of Glenn's ability is a huge concern.

If the running game does indeed sputter, they will be in more passing situations on 2nd and 3rd down, leading to more attempts, and most likely more yds, completions, and long tds.

More sacks and Ints thrown due to being under more pressure too.

You guys really think one guy, no matter how good he is, makes that much a difference? The Saints threw together their entire O-line with nobodies except Jammal Brown an did quite well. Why not the Colts?

Similarly, Reggie Wayne went down about 10 spots in my league rankings behind even Walker and Williams. Colts have a tough schedule against the pass. Week 14 at Baltimore and Week 15 at Oakland might scare people as well.

If anything - I am more concerned about the Colts defense. Today they lost MacFarland possibly for the season. Add in all the off season losses the Colts could find themselves in some big time shootouts.

We are talking about Peyton Manning right? If anything - I think Peyton will be primed to have a huge season as their offense is going to have to carry more of the load to keep up with their lack of defense.
