Philly D #3 on footballguys list for week5? Seriously? (1 Viewer)

I have philly D and they've been completely underwhelming this year...especially without vick.

So how can they still be #3 after getting spanked last week?

They're playing San Fran yes, but they can't stop the run anyway. And with Kolb being so bad, the team just gives the other side so much more offensive chances.

I know they were ranked #2 at the beginning of the year, but they definitely haven't lived up to the billing. I have bears D as my 2nd def against carolina and i'm thinking that the bears against no steve smith and a rookie qb is a much better play.

Thoughts? Is fbg getting lazy with their rankings?

Its a defensive ranking try not to think too hard about it.

Alex smith is a poor decision maker, will probably turn the ball over and get sacked.

So? You start the best lineup every week to win. You telling me that the 30 or so points difference between the eagles and the highest ranked Defs so far through 4 weeks might not help so teams to victory? Smart gms work every angle. I pay fbg for their insight just like everyone else does. Sometimes, their rankings don't make sense.

They played pretty well last week. Limiting the Redskins to 17 points is pretty good, especially since 14 of those points were scored early in the first quarter.

They are a good play this week.

Bears are a better start. There now you can blame me if Philly d has big week and clausen owns the bears.

Then play the Bears D. FBG has a different opinion than yours, that doesn't mean they are lazy. What is lazy is having someone else make your decision for you.

Well, SF does appear to suck this year. I would not feel bad about starting them, that's for sure.

Gore may run all over them but you dont lose points for rush yards allowed, well not in my league anyways. They should be good for a couple of sacks and 1-2 picks. If 1 of those picks turns into a TD, ranking justified.

Say what you want about me being a newbie (i've been doing this 10 years now) and won first in my 1k buyin league utilizing fbg more than once, and while I do look at the lists, the buck stops with me on my lineup. Here's what I do see. FBG tends to rely on their preseason list a bit too much when they do weekly matchups.

For example, Tolbert is #26 on the rb list. Really? Is he really that bad a start vs Forte at #18 or Addai at #12? Think of it this way, if we had to draft all over again, how changed would the draft list be? There's no reason Ochocinco should be top 10 on anyone's wr list.

Too funny. Its not an exact science dude. You disagree, fine. Keep it to yourself. Calling anyone on a site that provides as much detailed info as this one "lazy" is beyond ridiculous. Just say thanks for the rankings helping you win your awesomely huge money league and be on your way.FWIW, I actually think Ocho should be a good play this week. He was double covered all last week, which led to TO blowing up. Probably sees a lot less double coverage and does a lot more with it this week.

2 words......Alex Smith. I'm startin them :)

They also have the threat of running back a punt TD anytime.

Im starting the Eagles DEF purely because of Alex Smith, feel good about it. #3? I don't know, but who cares really what FBG says about defenses.

FBG getting lazy with their lists

I remember my first year of FF... :lmao:
And the 2nd year of FF is even more fun than the first, you'll have learned the ropes a little and the game will slow down a bit.So don't let a little adversity like this silly thread ruin your fun, and be sure to listen to the experts to get good guidance - but still make your own decisions of course.

Enjoy! :lmao:

Yep bad call alright. Philly Defense with 2 sacks an 1 int, 3 fumbles, and a Defensive score. My league has a 20pt game going from that Philly Defense. They might be the top scoring defense in my league right now. Cool! Thanks FB guys.

:( have you thanked FBG for their solid PHI defense and Tolbert rankings? didn't think so. FBG gets it right much more often than not. but you probably wouldn't know anything about that.
