Pick an Actor or Actress (1 Viewer)

Charlie Sheen - Platoon
Tom Berenger - Major League
I'd flip those 2.
I can see Berenger for Platoon, but Sheen's second best movie was Wall Street, then Major League
I kinda feel the same about Sheen in Wall Street as I do Pitt in Seven. It wasn't a difficult role and it wasn't a standout performance it was just a great movie that he happened to be in.

Mos Def in 16 Blocks, in which Bruce Willis also did a really good job in as a washed up, drunk cop who still had a sense of duty at the end of his career. I don't know Hip-Hop from Hop Scotch, and have no idea what he's like as a musician, but I was struck by Mos Def's performance in that movie.

Stumbled across this old thread while taking a break from work . . . Forgot about this thread, I really like it though - any updates over the last six years??

This kills me, but

John Huston, Chinatown.

The final scene is blackness like I've never seen. (Dunaway had Bonnie and Clyde and Nicholson had so many others).

What are we doing here?
I assumed it was actor/actress and greatest, and/or great, role. One that you remember or moved you in some way. My guess, anyway.

Off-topic. It never, ever occurred to me that Bob Hoskins's character in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was a send-up of Nicholson in Chinatown. I just...

I'm dense. I love Roger Rabbit even more now. That's just so classic to send that up. :lmao:

Tom Cruise - Magnolia
I'm a sucker for that one. P.T. Anderson had the pick-up culture dialed in what, 1999? The crappy hotels, the overt masculinity, the profit-seeking off of basic human needs, the sketchy credentials. Impressive all around.

Haven't seen Julianne Moore do better than Magnolia, either. A little emo, but still pretty powerful. The pharmacist actually plays it pretty well, too.

She was excellent in A Single Man, as well. My favorite Julianne role is Boogie Nights.
