I'd disagree and pick Se7en.

I'd say his best work was in Snatch. With Fight Club and True Romance just behind.Seven was a good movie but that role wasn't really that unique or memorable. If another actor had played that role would the movie have been worse? I kinda doubt it.

I kinda feel the same about Sheen in Wall Street as I do Pitt in Seven. It wasn't a difficult role and it wasn't a standout performance it was just a great movie that he happened to be in.

Mos Def in 16 Blocks, in which Bruce Willis also did a really good job in as a washed up, drunk cop who still had a sense of duty at the end of his career. I don't know Hip-Hop from Hop Scotch, and have no idea what he's like as a musician, but I was struck by Mos Def's performance in that movie.

Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is as good as it gets. Kate Winslet is very good in that movie as well.

Not a Jim Carrey fan at all but after seeing this movie I cannot picture anyone else in this role. Great movie but even greater performance.

Off-topic. It never, ever occurred to me that Bob Hoskins's character in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was a send-up of Nicholson in Chinatown. I just...

I'm dense. I love Roger Rabbit even more now. That's just so classic to send that up.

I'm a sucker for that one. P.T. Anderson had the pick-up culture dialed in what, 1999? The crappy hotels, the overt masculinity, the profit-seeking off of basic human needs, the sketchy credentials. Impressive all around.

Haven't seen Julianne Moore do better than Magnolia, either. A little emo, but still pretty powerful. The pharmacist actually plays it pretty well, too.

She was excellent in A Single Man, as well. My favorite Julianne role is Boogie Nights.
