The Seattle Seahawks, who entered the league in 1976 and had even lost the Super Bowl themselves, had never won the big game.

That leaves 13 teams to have never won. There's nine teams who have gone and come away losers. The Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers, and Tennessee Titans have each lost a single Super Bowl, while the Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles are 0-for-2. The Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills, who have both been to four Super Bowls, have come away with zero championships.

And then there's four franchises -- the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars -- who have never been to the Super Bowl. Cleveland has lost three AFC Championship appearances, Jacksonville two, Detroit one, and Houston has never made it past the AFC Divisional round.

Add everything up, and you're left with a very unlucky 13 franchises that have never won the Super Bowl.

Voted Chargers because that's what I want to happen. I think the Eagles are most likely to do it from this group. But I expect Seattle to win it.

It's a long shot for any of these teams - Eagles are 18/1, Cardinals 30/1, the rest are 40+/1.

Falcons or Panthers. Every team in that division is fighting for last place in the division. Out of the teams with a credible chance to make the playoffs in the above list, these teams will face the worst in-division competition. Once they make the playoffs, they just need to catch lightning in a bottle.

If pressed to pick one, I'd take Carolina as I think they have the better defense and Cam has the moxie when playing well to put the team on his shoulders.

edit to add: I think teams like the Cardinals, Eagles, Bengals, Chargers are better teams, but would likely have to make the playoffs as a wildcard team.

edit x2: Actually, I was just reading about Wilfork signing with the Texans. That defense has a chance to be nasty. If they can get at least average QB play and knock off the Colts they could make a run too. I still think they'll have a tougher road to hoe than the division winner in the NFC South.

Criteria

1 - strong "enough" defense to keep other teams from dominating: Vikings, Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, Chargers, Panthers, Browns, Lions, Texans

2 - QB good enough to pull out a victory from behind: Vikings, Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, Chargers, Panthers, Browns, Lions, Texans

3 - Coach able to out coach his opponent: Vikings, Chargers, Panthers, Lions

I'd bet on the Panthers before the others.

I think the Cardinals have one of the best all-around rosters... studs at all of the key positions (lockdown corner, pass rusher, blue-chip tackle) except QB. If they figure out a decent QB in the next couple years, watch out.

If Palmer is healthy, Arizona checks all 3 and is probably a better bet than Carolina or SD.

unfortunately, Riverboat Ron is also liable to outcoach himself too. I'd have more confidence in Zimmer

Healthy and back in old form, probably. I'm skeptical that he will be good enough.

Riverboat Ron is very much like his QB, brilliant at times but inconsistent. Their highs are good enough to win it all.

Completely agree, in particular ARZ fits this list much better than SDLA.

The Chargers have no hoping of stopping the run, and generate absolutely no pass rush. Perhaps most importantly, they have a GM that doesn't seem to think the defensive line needs to be addressed. Strong enough defense? That eliminates them right there... no matter how many resources Telesco continues to pour into the ILB position. Oh, and now the team has nobody on the roster that should be playing S in the NFL which is a big deal since they are going to need the S's to be doing most of the tackling. Good luck, la.

Oh so close.

Assuming the teams I like don't make the playoffs (likely) I'll be rooting for the Cardinals if they make it.

This list has not changed.
And let's be honest...it won't for awhile.
I dunno, ARZ wasn't that far away. Palmer just had a complete melt-down in terms of TO's. It might be reasonable to expect Johnson/Ellington/Johnson to step up next year and make the team less dependent on Palmer.

Another good draft, maybe a few roleplayers in FA and I wouldn't be shocked if they won the SB. They seem very close to me.

If by awhile you mean 11 months, sure. But there's a decent chance one of the panthers, Bills, Cardinals, Bengals... even the Jaguars and Texans win in the next couple years. If Houston got a qb they might be the best team in the conference, especially when Tom retires.

Chose Carolina over the Cardinals purely because if Palmer gets hurt then they won't make it. And he seems to be more likely to get hurt than Cam. His finger injury is what I think caused them to lose to Carolina this year.

Injury + bad decision making + bad pocket presence + errors in judgment
