Pick your all-time NBA starting lineup (salary cap) (1 Viewer)

If doing a draft Again, I would suggest adding two more $1 players and 1 more $2 player to each group. Then make the salary cap 12 or 13 so getting one of the $5 guys "costs" more.
My random suggestions of guys who would fit roughly at those dollar levels, and would also add some nice stylistic mix to things, just for fun...

PG: $2 - Kidd...$1 - Iverson, Payton

SG: $2 - Gervin...$1 - Allen, Miller

SF: $2 - Barry...$1 - Rodman, Wilkins

PF: $2 - Hayes...$1 - McHale, Dantley

C: $2 - Ewing...$1 - Cowens, Unseld

I would put Moses Malone at $2 and make Ewing $1 with David Robinson.

I wouldn't argue. Plenty of ways to make something like this work. Just liked the mix.

ETA: I might move Hakeem up to two bucks, use three of the others as buck players, and just eliminate Moses, since he's at least a two dollar guy and would just get bumped in the numbers game.

Anyone want to take a crack at an optimal lineup on the Abraham/Freelove/Jayrod revised edition? Added a few, bumped/lowered a few to reflect how insanely often/rarely they're getting picked, and changed the cap. No point to it. Just an exercise in time wasting.

$13 cap. Must get one guy at each spot.

PG's

$5 - Magic

$4 - Big O

$3 - Zeke, Stockton

$2 - Kidd

$1 - Frazier, Iverson, Payton

SG's

$5 - Jordan

$4 - Kobe

$3 - West

$2 - Gervin

$1 - Drexler, Wade, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller

SF's

$5 - LeBron

$4 - Bird

$3 - Dr. J

$2 - Durant, Pippen

$1 - Rodman, Nique, Worthy

PF's

$5 - Duncan

$4 - Malone

$3 - Barkley

$2 - Garnett, Elvin Hayes

$1 - Dirk, McHale, Dantley

C's

$5 - Kareem

$4 - Wilt

$3 - Russell, Shaq

$2 - Hakeem, Moses

$1 - Ewing, Robinson

Jordan

LeBron

Durant

Dirk

Garnett

I could take Hakeem over Garnett, but I like KG's fit better. Hakeem is an offensive wizard, but the tenacity KG brings is unmatched on defense. After spending $10 for my top 2 players, I had to find some cheap options to fill out. Garnett may be a bit undersized vs these other all time C's, but small ball will destroy some of the other options sure to come up.

With Jordan and LeBron, no need for a true point. They can each guard both back court slots. The rest of the squad is lengthy and can SHOOT THE BALL like crazy. Jordan's gonna be amazed at how much space he has to work, as if he needs another advantage.

Plus, this allows you to take any of the Magic lineups by covering him with LeBron, preventing the size disadvantage.

I saw this posted somewhere else, so please don't kill me if a player is omitted from the list.

You have $15 to spend

PG

Magic- $5

Robertson- $4

Isaiah- $3

Stockton- $2

Frazier- $1

SG

Jordan- $5

Kobe- $4

West- $3

Drexler- $2

Wade- $1

SF

Lebron- $5

Bird- $4

Erving- $3

Durant- $2

Pippen- $1

PF

Malone- $5

Barkley- $4

Duncan- $3

Dirk- $2

Garnett- $1

C

Kareem- $5

Russell- $4

Chamberlain- $3

Shaq- $2

Hakeem- $1
Stockton, Jordon, Lebron, Garnett, and Shaq,

Would consider Isaiah and Hakeem instead of Stockton and Shaq.

Anyway, the point of Iverson's inclusion among PG's is that yes, he played point a good bit, especially early in his career, and was often listed at PG even though he played far more in SG style. Which is the point here: with all the pass-capable athletes at other positions available here, it might be interesting to have a couple score-first PG's-in-name-only available for those who are so inclined.

Do you have to take one of each category, or just the 5 you want?

Jordan, Allen, James, Hakeem, Durant

Dribble-Drive, with Hakeem in the post, and kicking out to Allen for 3's

I've always said if I were picking an all time team that Magic would be the guy I would start with, IMO, No single player in the history of the game made their teammates better like Magic did. His court visibilty and his ability to play all 5 positions are the kicker to me. This was tough,

Magic-5

West-3 ( would still be a stud in today's NBA)

Durant-2 (slight edge over Doc)

Duncan-3 ( my son's all time favorite player, had to put him on)

Hakeem-1 (best value on the board) Shaq should have been the $1 guy actually

Stockton is the ideal unselfish PG with these type of teams. Will also knock down the open 3.

Jordan / LeBron are the best of their time and will pose matchup nightmares and both play a full all around game.

My 4, Garnett, is for boards and D and can power our fast break.

Shaq at 5 provides physical domination (I have young rookie Shaq) on both ends of the floor and can finish on anybody.

$13 rules...

I first wanted to go with

$5 Magic

$5 MJ

$1 Rodman

$1 Dirk

$1 Robinson

but I just don't like Dirk in there for nothing but 3s and outside Js. Yeah, he can put a hand up and guard the perimeter...but he's not going to stop anyone else's forwards on this list.

In the end I went with a team that's all heart...fast paced, long, versatile...competitors. When I picture all of these guys..the first thing that pops to mind is them sweating and leaving it all on the court.

$3 Zeke

$5 MJ

$2 Durrant

$2 KG

$1 Robinson

Swap the other three as needed, but I don't think I can make myself leave MJ off any list or ignore Robinson's value at $1. Bring it down to $10, and I think MJ is still on my team. Raise it back to $15 and you'll see me adding elsewhere and keeping The Admiral.

PG - Kidd $2 (went to HS with the guy)

SG - Jordan $5

SF - Rodman $1

PF - Garnett $2

C - Robinson $1

Bench - Pippen $2

I don't think the opposition would score. Maybe on a switch and some how Kidd ended up guarding Hakeem, then maybe he'd score. But the Admiral would be right there with the weak side help.

Pippen would fill in at 1, 2 or 3 (maybe 4). If Robinson needs a break, KG moves to the 5, Rodman at 4, Pippen at 3.

Who's next?

:penalty: You're playing 6 on 5...

Stockton - 2

Jordan - 5

Erving - 3

Duncan - 3

Shaq - 2

ETA: Duncan and Shaq are ridiculously great values at their prices.
