PieLeeg HQ: Magic Beisbol Extravaganza (4 Viewers)

Ok, time to handle this. We're just over a week from Opening Day and it appears it's actually going to happen. To address some earlier concerns and set the expectations for moving forward:

1- I don't think a re-draft is realistic with the current level of interest being displayed. So we're going to play on as scheduled with the help of some adjustments.

2- Disclaimer: If we don't get at least 40 games in, I'm refunding all the money. Doesn't seem right to aware a winner on anything less than 1/4 a regular MLB season. In the event the season is canceled, I'll judge whether we meet the 40-game requirement by simply checking to see if any singular MLB team has completed 40 games. If so, it counts. If not, we refund.

3- The supplemental draft is to fairly distribute players for added bench slots. These are being added because of the complications that will inevitably come from "IL-COVID" through the season.

4- Yahoo's max IL designation is 5. I'm moving us from 2 to 5 to help alleviate the inevitable roster crunch.

5- You're all also getting 2 extra bench slots and 3 "NA" spots. That will be an expansion from 5 to 7 bench players, with the ability to hold as many as 10 based on NA designation. Again, this is to account for these expanded MLB rosters, the chance that someone can have COVID and not be placed on IL, and any unforeseen managerial shenanigans that will come with this 60-man roster stuff. We don't know what we don't know.

6- We'll go 6 rounds for the supplemental draft to give the full snake effect (you can opt out of the draft at any time-- just post in the thread that you're done). @cosjobs opt out has been noted.

7- If you intend to draft 6 players for the 5 additional bench slots and don't have a player to put on the IL, you'll be required to drop someone when you make your final selection.

8- Draft order sticks. This has nothing to do with the March draft. And March was a snake draft-- them's the breaks.

9- Let's make a reasonable effort to finish this supplemental draft in a day or two. Dragging it out really can impact the results. With that in mind, I reserve the right to place an hour clock on this process if things grind to a halt.

10- I will be reversing any transactions that were made after my June 29th request to halt transactions. Those players will be back in the pool and eligible for this draft.

11- I know this sucks. And I know it's probably not the fairest thing we've ever done. I'm just trying to do my best to salvage some beisbol joy out of what has been a nightmare for all of us. Love you guys.

Nothing is easy. As I was making the adjustments on Yahoo, I ran into the following issue:

Your total roster cannot exceed 30 total positions

Once your draft has completed, the only changes you can make are to increase your number of IL, NA, or Bench slots. Please think before raising any of these sizes, because if you do so, you cannot later reduce them.

So....

We have a 23-man lineup. That means the max bench slots I can give is 7 (up from 5).

You're still getting your 5 IL spots (instead of 2). And to make up for not being able to add 3 additional bench slots, I'm giving you all 3 NA slots. If they're doing it right (putting a NA designation on anyone who isn't on the active roster), this should be useful.

With that in mind, some folks may want to opt out before we get 6 rounds deep. That's totally fine.

This is why Serious Biz isn't on Yahoo.

 
So just to be clear, as an example, if you have no IL and no NA players and you dont want to drop anyone, you can only draft 2 players?

 
FYI: I have updated Page 1 with the supplemental draft order/results (in Post #2). You should be able to search for players there.

ANNOUNCE: We'll have a one-hour clock (Running 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern) beginning in Round #2. That should give everyone a chance to be aware it is happening, but still get this over in a reasonable amount of time.

Once all picks are completed and I make the additions to your rosters, we will resume our normal waiver structure for the duration of the season.

One thing I mentioned back in June but haven't talked about recently: We are prorating the games and innings.

Normally you get 162 games per lineup slot for hitters and a total of 1400 innings for pitchers.

You'll now get 60 games per lineup slot for hitters. Since 60 games is 37% of the 162 game season, you'll get 37% of 1400 innings... which is 518.

I'm going to update Yahoo to reflect this.
