I'm taking the year off. I'll plan to return next year if there's a spot open, but I have too much going on right now to make time for magic baseball.

Opening Day: April 7th

Looking back, the drafts usually go about 2 weeks so we should be fine with March 21st to start the draft.

Does yahoo allow trades to go into effect the day after confirmation? I know the 2 day delay was something a lot of people had an issue with.

We have 2 DL spots. I think adding at least one more should be considered.

I'm open for considering Quality Starts instead of Wins but wouldn't care if we kept Wins.

I contacted the Commish and he will be checking in soon.

Looks like we are 13 now. One spot still available if anyone else wants in.

Hi friends. Sorry I've been out of the loop this week. I've been a little under the weather and not up to my normal interwebs habits.

Thanks to jamny for doing all the heavy lifting to get things rolling. Impressive  :bowtie:

Yahoo allows for one of three trade settings, I believe. Either "commish approval", "league vote" or neither. Pretty sure you can have a same day turnaround on the latter.

I'm in favor of adding one or two more IL spots.

Waiting on the Tom Brady-style backtrack on this to get us to 14. Mac always has time for magic baseball.

So ... we have a draft start date of Monday, March 21.

Looks like we have the following issues to vote on ...

1 - Number of IL spots: A- Keep at 2, B- Expand to 3, C- Expand to 5

2- Pitcher cats Part I: A- Keep saves, B- Move to Saves+Holds

3- Pitcher cats Part II: A- Keep wins, B- Move to Quality Starts

We could also talk about becoming a 6x6 league, but that seems like a 2023 step if the votes for 2022 cats don't resolve complaints.

I'd like some opinions on 2&3 from people that would vote B on those. Pros and cons.

My god, look what baseball’s lockout has done to me! Even my votes mention the dang CBA.

A (B second choice). Waiver wire is thin enough as it is. Gets even thinner with more IL spots

A. S+H seems like it devalues closers TOO much.

Saves+Holds more accurately reflects how bullpen pitchers are valued in MLB, IMO.
1 - B

2 - B

3 - B

My reasoning for voting on both 2 & 3 for B is that they are the most unpredictable categories. Pitchers have had phenomenal years but their team didn't score more than one run a game for them or their bullpens blow it. They are relying on a bunch of other players and coaches to make the right call every time for them to secure the win. We've seen guys with a 2.50 era and 7 wins on the year and guys with a 4.50 with 15 wins.

With hitters we know Trout is gonna hit .300 30 HR, 100 R and 100 RBI. You know Billy Hamilton was gonna hit .220 but have 50+ SB. We've got no clue who's gonna get wins or save.

Sure, B and B provide a more accurate portrayal of a players talent, but this is magic baseball. Chasing saves, destroying ratios, and getting burned in wins is pretty much what it's all about.

I've given this more thought than I probably should have but this is kinda where I fall. Not much angers me more in this game than watching a closer blow a win for me. I would miss that too much.

Not this year, but I'm glad you found a 14th. If I joined the 14th would probably be the round we're on come opening day.
