Did MLB dictate "ATH" as the abbreviation to use? Typically it's the city (or state for more recent franchises). MLB, Yahoo!, ESPN, etc., are all using "ATH."

That's per the directive from the club. Some of the local media in the Bay Area have gone against that and are referring them as Sacramento.
