@PierreGarcon85: I wanted you all to hear it from me 1st ... I will be signing with the Washington.
Here is his full statement from facebook
I wanted you all to hear it from me 1st before u saw it on the news... I will be signing with the Washington Redskins and I'm very excited about the opportunity in front of me.I want to thank all Colts fans from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you've shown me the past 4 years and I hope that at some level u will still follow my career, as I will continue to share my life with you on here...

Less than an hour after FA starts. When do they get rid of the tampering charade?

And isn't this kind of like signing a worse, but younger, Santana Moss?

This guy almost put up 1k with Painter and friends at QB. With RG3's accuracy, this guy should be a later round steal.

Wow! Am I the only guy who thinks this is way too much money for an average starting WR? I just don't think he will be anywhere near an elite WR outside of IND.

No you're not the only guy thinking he got way too much money.Colston and Stevie Johnson both were cheaper.

I'm pretty sure the only guy who doesn't is Dan Snyder.

Yuck. Guy never has even had a 1,000 yards and that was with a healthy Peyton throwing him the ball. He certainly came close last year playing on an awful team, but still...

I would rather have Garcon at this point over Colston, so I can see the $$$ side. Several years younger and much better knees. Considering the position WASH is in, they are forced to add talent through FA.

Skins may not be done yet with adding WR's

Michael Lombardi ‏ @michaelombardiThe Redskins are not done shopping for wide receivers, expect them to be strongly involved in signing Eddie Royal they want 3 new WR's

Yea, but neither of those guys hit FA. This is why when you get close to becoming a FA it's almost always better to hit the market than resign with your team before, because you'll usually get more $$$$.

Contracted Redskins WRs: Garcon-Morgan-Hankerson-Royal-Moss-Gaffney-Armstrong-Paul-Robinson-Austin-Banks

What a mess :lmao:

Take a look at what they had from last year. THAT is a mess. They have upgraded. Maybe not all world guys, but better than the crap they had.

So could royal regain his rookie season form now that he's reunited with shanahan? His lack of success was blamed on an inability to pick up / run the routes in mcdaniels offense.

I'll be rooting for Garcon to pull it all together, but that seems like an insane amount of money to spend on him. I'm glad the Colts resisted the urge break the bank for him.

If that's setting the market, I hope the Bills pass on Meachem and draft Michael Floyd instead. $8M a year plus $21M guaranteed for a guy that never has had 1000 yards receiving or 100 receptions in a season is ridiculous.

Daniel Snyder seems like the heir to Al Davis. Screwing the market for everyone else with ridiculous overspending.

Josh Morgan numbers now in and confirmed

ProFootballTalk ‏ @ProFootballTalkWR Josh Morgan agrees to five-year deal with Redskins that will void to two years. Worth up to $12 million. $7.5 million "guaranteed."

RG3 throws a great deep ball so this certainly does bode well for Garcon to produce if he can hold onto the ball.
Garcon isn't getting nearly enough respect IMO. He played well last year on a putrid team. With a real QB he could put up 1200+ yds.

It’s a five-year deal that, based on the language, will void to two years. The device was used to push 80 percent of the cap hit for the signing bonus into 2013, given the Redskins’ unexpected loss of $18 million in 2012 cap space. The two-year deal is worth up to $12 million, with $7.5 million guaranteed.
Directly from PFT.

Like you wouldn't have to over pay to make a FA sign in Canada south anyways.

That doesn't seem to be bad.

and reggie wayne opposite of him. My point is Peerless Price. Does Garcon have what it takes to be a #1?They seem to have a lot of #2 and #3 types now. Can Hankerson be the #1?Hankerson, Garcon, Royal, Anderson, Niles Paul as your top 5? with Fred Davis at TE?Bye Bye Moss, Gaffney, Stallworth, etc.....

Josh Morgan: Report: Josh Morgan 'hot name' in free agency

NFL.com's Mike Lombardi reports free agent Josh Morgan is a "hot name" around the league because teams believe he will cost less than the top available receivers but possesses "star" potential.

Rotoworld: Morgan will command less money than the Vincent Jacksons and Marques Colstons, "yet might play as well." The 49ers also believe Morgan has far more potential than his past statistics indicate. "His talent is undeniable," writes Lombardi, "and teams will pay well for his services. He will be off the market before Sunday." Morgan is expected to hit free agency on Tuesday.

Exactly. Garçon could put up those numbers with guys like Wayne, Clark, and Collie out there. If he is going to be their #1, I just can't see him justifying that money.Although Greg's point about that money maybe looking not too bad when the cap goes up a bunch next year may save this contract.Still, I think it makes Stevie Johnson and Colston look like total bargains.

2011: 70 receptions on 134 targets 52.2% w/Painter, Orlovsky, Collins2010: 67 receptions on 119 targets 56.3% w/Peyton Manning2009: 49 receptions on 92 targets 53.2% w/Peyton ManningReally that big of a difference between QB's???

I don't think they'll have a WR#1. I think they'll have an improved receiving corps over last year. Gaffney won't be gone. Stallworth, Banks, Armstrong, Anderson an/or Paul will be gone. Moss may be. Garcon, Morgan, Royal, Gaffney, Fred Davis will get most of the receptions.

I've been holding Morgan this offseason, hoping for a good landing spot. Given the amount of receivers he'll be competing with in Washington, I'm not sure how he'll be able to put up WR3 level numbers.

Ehh, he's cheap, so may as well hang on and see how it plays out.

I think this is the more accurate story...

25: (throw it out - QB play so bad you can't infer anything) 70 receptions on 134 targets 52.2% w/Painter, Orlovsky, Collins

24: (nice improvement - especially the +21-252-2 in three playoff games) 67 receptions on 119 targets 56.3% w/Peyton Manning

23: (2 years removed from DIII ball and one from a rookie year where he caught four balls) 49 receptions on 92 targets 53.2% w/Peyton Manning

Like the signing for the 'Skins and expect this deal will look really good once the cap # explodes in a couple years. If Griffin is as advertised Garcon should make a nice mid-level NFL WR1.
