Pirates just flat out cut Matt Morris today. Pathetic.

Want to know why the Pirates have sucked for awhile? When you GM trades a couple of young players for a pitcher with a nearly $10 Million salary that ends up getting CUT after 5 starts and a 9+ ERA. We all blasted the Pirates for making that trade last year, and this is why. Thankfully, that GM is gone.

In the official Pirates thread I predicted Morris would not record a win as a starter for the Pirates this season. He was absolutely horrible.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why Littlefield signed him unless he knew he was going to be fired shortly and wanted to burden the team by paying him over $10 million.

I like the direction the Pirates are going in, but I thought it was weird that they cut him instead of making him the long man out of the pen. It's not like they have a ton of ready to go pitching prospects tearing it up in the minors.

So which is the worse deal. Taking less in a deal so the Cubs would take A. Ramierez or trading for Morris?
