PIT/NO quick thoughts (1 Viewer)

PIT - Big Ben looked OK in his very short time. Wilson kept making plays, credit to him (might perk up a little interest in really deep/dynasty leagues). Davenport looked like, well, a backup RB. Not exactly the next Turner.

NO - Brees looked like crap IMO. Poor decisions, poor throws, Marino-like mobility. Nobody else did anything either though. Bush still can't resist the behind-the-line dance, but he seemed to be somewhat conscious of it at times - one play in particular he swept left, looked like he was going to reverse his field...then just dove for no/short gain.

S. Holmes is maybe there best WR playmaker and looks to be the #4 WR on that team ! C. Wilson made some nice catches tonight but shouod he really start in place of Holmes ?

Excellent posting your on point with your observations. Brees looked horrible but Colston did get a good number of targets albiet in only a couple of series

Holmes is starting and the #2 WR. Wilson and Washington were on the field because they were in a 4 WR set.

From listening to this on the internet the announcers made it seem like Bush has matured some in regards to dancing around behind the line, last year the play would have gone for a 5 yard loss where as he gained 2 on the carry this year.

you thought Big Ben only looked okay? I thought he looked GREAT.
Yes, only OK. Well, maybe "pretty good." Hardly great. That bomb wasn't exactly picture perfect and was a nice adjustment by Wilson. I was PO'd he only played one series though. Obviously Holmes is the WR2. Oh and Washington looked like crap too - drop after drop.PS on why another thread: because I was interested in reading/discussing quick thoughts on the game w/o having to wade through hundreds of posts....esp those wonderfully pointless play-by-play ones :sadbanana:

Bush looked very good. Both carries were of the "take what the D gives you" variety. You can't take anything, period, away from just two carries, but he looked like a real RB in those two carries.

Man, you have to really be a Ben hater to find anything he did wrong in that short period of time he played. The 55 yard pass hit Wilson right in stride and Ben lead him away from the nearest of 2 defenders. Ben had 1 incompletion and it should have been a TD as Washington dropped a ball that he would have stepped into the endzone easily. I dunno, I am a homer, but that bomb was a very pretty pass and catch. Maybe you didn't notice the 2 defensive backs Ben had to account for on the throw. Here is to Ben looking just OK the rest of the season.

I'm a Steeler fan, so I was mostly watching them.

Roethlisberger looked pretty good. I wouldn't say great. The long pass to Wilson was decent, but it didn't hit him in stride - he had to slow down for it. I don't know that it could have gone for 6, but maybe if he puts it a bit further out there it would have. The pass to Washington was perfect. The other pass to Wilson was perfect. All in all a pretty nice series, but it wasn't exactly a difficult set of passes either.

Holmes looked pretty good.

The defense looked pretty good and I think they were showing mostly 3-4 looks.

Reed didn't look good at all withball security on punt returns, which was pretty disappointing.

NO's CBs looked like mud, especially McKenzie biting on that stop and go from Wilson.

Exactly, well said on all counts, thx
