Pitching Strategy? (1 Viewer)

12 team, 5x5 Roto league

We start any combination of 7 pitchers. Here is my staff:

Lackey

Kazmir

Cain

Hamels

Burnett

Jennings

Garcia

Hoffman

Jones

Fuentes

So far in this short season my category stats are:

K = 68 (1st)

ERA = 2.880 (1st)

WHIP = 1.133(2nd)

W = 4 (7th)

S = 8 (2nd)

Pretty nice start, I hope it continues. But the glaring deficiency is in the "win" column. I have been playing a combination of 4 starters and 3 relievers. But many of my starters have been 2 start guys, so I have had opportunities. Next week, I am not looking at any two-start pitchers. Do I continue to ride the 4/3 combo (only 4 starts). Do I sit 2 RPs in an effort to get 6 starts? The "Wins" category seems to be such a crap shoot. Should I not even factor it into my decision making...just continue to start pitchers if I like like the matchup and let the wins fall where they may? Am I just overthinking...too early in the season to worry about such things????

Totally overthinking. Never chase wins. Your ratios are solid, and you'll do well in saves. Always play the best matchups. I ordinarily have at least 2 closers and one MR in my starting rotation at all times. One league I actually have 5 starters and 4 relievers, and I'm in first in wins and saves. I know it's early and expect to drop some in wins, but if I gather up enough saves, I can throw a few more starters in the rotation later in the year. Once you tally the save, they can't take it off the board, and saves are a lot easier to gather than wins.
