PJ's in depth 6 Round Mock Draft (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
1. Miami Dolphins- Jake Long OT, Michigan

Dolphins emporer Bill Parcells and the Fins have officially signed the big guy out of Michigan. Head Coach Tony Soprano I mean Sparano actually threatened Jake saying that if he and his agent don’t agree to the contract set forth, they’ll choose Chris. Low and behold, Jake signed that same very evening.

Previous pick: Jake Long

2. St Louis Rams- Chris Long DE, Virginia

Leonard Little’s best days may be behind him, plus their lacking a true speed pass rusher to get to the quarterback.

Previous Pick: Chris Long

3. Atlanta Falcons- Glenn Dorsey DT, LSU

With Rod Coleman gone, their interior defensive line blows. They could very well draft Ryan, but I doubt they’ll want to pay him the money.

Previous Pick: Glenn Dorsey

4. Oakland Raiders- Vernon Gholston DE, Ohio State

By drafting the physical specimen, the Raiders will get one of the best pass rushers in the draft to line up opposite Burgess. Ellis could get picked here to replace Sapp so don’t count him out. The old man Al Davis has a man crush on McFadden. Unfortunately for him, he seems to be the only one in the organization that wants him despite the plethora of backs.

Previous Pick: Glenn Dorsey

5. KC Chiefs- Brandon Albert G/T, Virginia

Albert has skyrocketed up the draft board. In fact, the chiefs have said if he’s here, they would take him. They’re very tempted to shore up the defensive line by picking Ellis, but people are getting impatient with my old pal Herm. The safer choice of the two would be the big versatile lineman.

Previous Pick: Jeff Otah

6. NY Jets- Darren McFadden RB, Arkansas

If you’ve seen my first mock and the arguments after, I was adamant on Dallas trading up to get him. Now that Gholston’s off the board, there is no need for me to fight it anymore. McFadden will rock the Green and White next season. Hopefully after the free agent acquisitions and drafting the dynamic running back, people will actually fear us rather then laugh at us. He’ll be a perfect compliment to Thomas Jones. As much as I like Leon, this could be a good thing. He’ll have fresh legs in the return game. Add a healed Justin Miller to that mix and we’ll have an exciting Kick Return team.

Previous Pick: Darren McFadden

7. New England Patriots- Leodis McKelvin CB, Troy

After losing Asante Samuel, Randall Gay, and Eugene Wilson, the secondary could use both talent and depth.

Previous Pick: Leodis McKelvin

8 Baltimore Ravens- Matt Ryan QB, Boston College

With Brian Billick gone, the Kyle Boller experiment should be over. I’m kind of rooting for Troy Smith to succeed, but the chances of that happening are slim. Matt Ryan has definite franchise potential, something the Ravens haven’t had since it’s inauguration. CB is another major need, but this class is deep enough to wait on one later in the draft.

Previous Pick: Matt Ryan

9. Cincinnati Bengals- Sedrik Ellis DT, USC

There have been talks about the Bengals moving up for this guy, but, in this scenario, it seems like he fell right to them. Ellis should immediately step into the starting role next to Peko on the interior D-line.

Previous Pick: Sedrik Ellis

10. New Orleans Saints- Keith Rivers OLB, USC

Here’s the deal. The Saints need a CB, but with Rivers still on the board, they couldn’t pass up. Scott Fujita is ok, Shane Shanle is eh. Rivers would be a huge upgrade at this position.

Previous Pick: Keith Rivers

11. Buffalo Bills- Dominique Rogers-Cromartie CB, Tennessee State

The Bills ranked 28th in pass defense so they need to revamp their secondary. The 6’1 small school stand out could be a dangerous threat to any team looking to pass his way.

Previous Pick: DRC

12. Denver Broncos- Ryan Clady OT, Boise State

After former starter Matt Lepsis announced his retirement, former MTV “True Life: I Want the Perfect Body” and Notre Dame star Ryan Harris is at the top of the depth chart. Many are questioning whether he’s starter material. So, they draft arguably the best pass blocker in the entire draft, Ryan Clady. They may consider adding depth and competition to the most crucial spot on the offensive line. I thought about trading up to the number 8 spot to acquire the big Defensive Tackle Ellis, but since they’re lacking a 3rd round pick and had other needs, I figured giving up picks wouldn’t be too wise.

Previous pick: Chris Williams

13. Carolina Panthers- Chris Williams OT, Vanderbuilt

After making a strong presence at his pro day, the Panthers decide to move Travelle Wharton to guard and Jordan Gross to LT and plug Williams into the RT spot to solidify the offensive line.

Previous Pick: Jeff Otah

14. Chicago Bears- Jeff Otah OT, Pitt

The run on tackles continue with the Bears. They choose the big African Native Jeff Otah to protect Grossman and Benson for the rest of their tenure as a starter (Which could be half way through next season depending on who they draft.)

Previous Pick: Brandon Albert

15. Detroit Lions- Rashard Mendenhall RB, Illinois

The Lions have a couple other needs, but they go with the big bell cow back out of Illinois. A Mendenhall/ Tatum Bell combo could scare many in that NFC North division.

Previous Pick: Rashard Mendenhall

16. Arizona Cardinals- Mike Jenkins CB, South Florida

Eric Green and Rod Hood aren’t that great and the Cardinals need a ball hawk in that secondary immediately. Opposing quarterbacks will be shaking in their cleats passing against Jenkins and Rolle.

Previous Pick: Mike Jenkins

17. Kansas City Chiefs (from the Vikings for Jared Allen)- Derrick Harvey DE, Florida

The Chiefs trade away Allen, but leave a gaping hole in his spot. They choose to address this need by drafting the Harvey, a big defensive end out of Gainesville, Florida.

Previous Pick: Vikings- D. Harvey

18. Houston Texans- Antoine Cason CB, Arizona

This may be a reach, but the Texans secondary was terrible last season. Since this is a deep running back class, they choose to wait.

Previous Pick: Jonathan Stewart

19. Philadelphia Eagles- Kenny Phillips S, Miami

The Hurricane Safety should be a huge upgrade over Sean Considine. After drafting the top FS in this years draft, Philly should have one of the better secondarys in the league.

Previous Pick: Malcom Kelly

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- DeSean Jackson WR/KR, Cal

The Bucs are looking for a speedy playmaker and Jackson fits that mold perfectly. He was actually down in Tampa Bay recently meeting with the front office, Gruden, the WRs coach, the special teams coach, the offensive coordinator, and the water boy.

Previous Pick: DeSean Jackson

21. Washington Redskins- Philip Merling DE, Clemson

The skins are in need of a pass rusher opposite Andre Carter.

Previous Pick: Philip Merling

22. Dallas Cowboys (from Cleveland)- Devin Thomas WR, Michigan State

Thomas will add youth to the aging WR corps.

Previous Pick: Devin Thomas

23. Pittsburgh Steelers- Quinton Groves DE/OLB

When asked about the defense, Tomlin said, “ I would love to add a pass rush.” Pass Rush you will get Mikey as you draft Quinton Groves. This young end has a knack for getting to the quarterback recording 23 pressures.

Previous Pick: Gosder Cherilus

24. Tennessee Titans- Limas Sweed WR, Texas

Vince Young and Limas Sweed played well together down in Texas. Drafting a familiar face could help Vince Young in the passing game. Besides the connection, Sweed, who draws comparisons to a taller Andre Johnson, should step in and start week 1.

Previous Pick: Limas Sweed

25. Seattle Seahawks- Jonathan Stewart RB, Oregon

After letting go of Shuan Alexander, it’s time for a new feature back to emerge (I don’t see Julius Jones and TJ Duckett filling that void). In comes the big man out of Oregon. This guy is not only a threat in the ground game, but can also be effective catching balls out of the backfield.

Previous Pick: Kentwan Balmer

26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Lawrence Jackson DE, USC

After McCray’s departure, the Defensive End position needs immediate attention.

Previous Pick: Lawrence Jackson

27. *TRADE (mock simulation)* Atlanta Falcons (from San Diego for picks 34 (2nd round), 103 (4thround), and 172 (6th round)- Brian Brohm, QB

Charger’s GM AJ Smith has been vocal about looking to trade out for more picks. Although the Falcons are giving up 2 extra picks, they still have 9 total selections (6 of those in the first 3 rounds). Some argue Brohm is the best QB in this draft, and after the whole Vick fiasco, ATL was stuck playing QB roulette between Harrington, Leftwhich, and Chris Redman. They need a true franchise QB, and Brohm could win that job easily.

Previous Pick: Brian Brohm

28. Dallas Cowboys-Aquib Talib CB, Kansas

Even if Pac Man Jones gets traded and permission to play, they still need help at corner.

Previous Pick: Aquib Talib

29. SF 49ers (from IND)- Gosder Cherilus OT, Boston College

They have two gaping holes that need to be filled after losing both Kwame Harris and Justin Smiley. Cherilus should be

Previous Pick: Quinton Groves

30. Green Bay Packers- Brandon Flowers CB, Virginia Tech

This is more for depth since Al Harris and Charles Woodson showed signs of wear last season.

Previous Pick: Antoine Cason

31. New York Giants- Jerod Mayo ILB, Tennessee

With the loss of Kawika Mitchell and Reggie Torbor, the Giants need to add depth to their linebacking core.

Previous Pick: Kenny Phillips

Round 2

1. (32) Miami Dolphins- Calais Campbell DE, Miami

The Dolphins had trouble stopping the run and pass last season, the Miami product is the type of player that could help out in both areas. Also keep in mind Jason Taylor’s time may be coming to an end.

2. (33) St Louis Rams- Sam Baker OT, USC

Orlando Pace hasn’t been able to stay on the field. When that line suffers, the whole offense struggles.

3. (34) San Diego Chargers (from Atlanta) – Felix Jones RB, Ark **(Trade for Mock Simulation)

Michael Turner played a huge role as Tomlinson’s backup. Sproles is a little ball of lightning, but I don’t think he could be that feature guy if LT were to go down. Jones defiantly has that potential.

4. (35) Kansas City Chiefs- Justin King, CB Penn State

With the loss of Ty Law and the aging of Surtain, the Chiefs look to King for some help.

5. (36) NY Jets- Dan Connor ILB, Penn State

Like former team mate Paul Pousluzney, first round caliber Connor slips to the top of the 2nd right to the New York Jets. Connor will be a great addition playing in the spot of the departed Jonathan Vilma.

6. (37) Atlanta Falcons (from Oak)- Anthony Collins OT, Kansas

Now that they have a potential franchise quarterback and runningback, the dirty birds could look to bolster the offensive linel

7 (38) Baltimore Ravens- Reggie Smith CB/S, Oklahoma

Their two starters Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle are either constantly hurt or sick. By drafting this versatile Sooner, they add immediate depth and youth to their secondary.

8. (39) SF 49ers- Malcom Kelly WR, Oklahoma

Kelly makes a significant slide from my previous mock. The 49rs get a steal with this big possession WR. Expect him to battle with Jason Hill to start opposite Issac Bruce.

9 (40) New Orleans Saints- Kentwan Balmer DT, North Carolina

The Saints are full of mediocre talent on the defensive line. Balmer should step in immediately and make an impacr.

10 (41) Buffalo Bills- James Hardy WR, Indiana

The 6’6” Hardy will make a huge impact in the receiving game being that Evans Parrish and Reed are all under 6 foot.

11 (42) Denver Broncos- Earl Bennett WR, Vanderbilt

Denver is really high on this kid. So high in fact, they flew his former QB Cutler out to his pro day to toss him the ball. Gil Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio said that the last time he saw an organization do that was the Dallas Cowboys back in the Troy Aikman days. I’m expecting the Bronco’s to reunite the Vanderbilt tandem.

12. (43) Carolina Panthers- Joe Flacco QB, Delaware

Jake Delhomme had serious elbow surgery, Matt Moore played adequately, David Carr was a wreck, and Vinny is…well… old. The top of their depth chart at the QB position was like a revolving door. With Delhomme aging and getting injured frequently they need someone to back him up and eventually take over the reigns. Flacco is said to have the highest ceiling in terms of potential, out of all the QBs in this draft.

13 (44) Chicago Bears- Chad Henne QB, Michigan

Rex Grossman was signed to a short term deal, which leads me to believe the Bears are looking to sqeeze one more year out of him so that the QB they draft could learn the system and develop into a starter. Henne is a proven leader with tons of experience starting all 4 years.

14 (45) Detroit Lions- Duane Brown OT, Virginia Tech

The Lions line wasn’t the greatest last season. Brown would probably replace the departed Woody.

15. (46) Cincinnati Bengals- Tyrell Johnson S

Watching the scoreboard of that Browns-Bengals game early in the season last year was like watching the scoreboard of a pinball machine. Granted, most underestimated the Browns air attack at that point in the season, but still. No team should be giving up 48 points.

16. (47) Minnesota Vikings- DeJuan Morgan FS, North Carolina State

They signed Madieu Williams and still have Darren Sharper. There isn’t much beyond that. Expect them to develop Morgan to eventually replace the aging Sharper.

17 (48) Atlanta Falcons (from Houston)- Xavier Adibi OLB, Virginia Tech

The dirty birds should draft Adibi to replace DeMorrio Williams.

18 (49) Philadelphia Eagles- Jerome Simpson WR, Coastal Carolina

This may be a bit of a reach, but the Eagles use their 2nd pick on the 6’1 sure handed possession receiver.

19 (50) Arizona Cardinals- Jamaal Charles RB, Texas

Charles would be the perfect compliment to Edge. If he could fix his ball security skills he may even take the reigns when Edge decides to call it quits.

20 (51) Washington Redskins- Antwaun Molden CB, Eastern Kentucky

Shawn Springs is getting old plus he and Smoot are injury prone.

21 (52) Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Terrell Thomas CB, USC

Ronde Barber and Phillip Buchanon are still playing well, but they’re both on the verge of retirement. They need someone to develop under them and step into that vacant spot left by Brian Kelly.

22 (53) Pittsburgh Steelers- Roy Schuening G, Oregon State

This pick was a no brainer. They need to fix that offensive line, starting with the void left by Alan Faneca.

23 (54).Tennessee Titans- Trevor Laws DT, Notre Dame

There is a void left by the departed Randy Starks. Tony Brown could fill it, but either way they’re still lacking in depth.

24 (55) Seattle Seahawks- Martellus Bennett TE, Texas A&M

Bennett should step into the starting role providing Seattle with both great blocking and another weapon.

25 (56) Green Bay Packers (from Cle)- Dustin Keller TE, Purdue

The Packers draft Keller to fill the void of Bubba Franks and compliment Donald Lee. He should be a great weapon for Aaron Rogers.

26 (57) Miami Dolphins (from San Diego)- Curtis Loftin ILB, Oklahoma

Zach Thomas is no longer in a Fins uniform. Expect Loftin to fill that void.

27 (58) Jacksonville Jaguars- Tom Zbikowski SS/ Pro Boxer, Notre Dame

Currently their starting SS is Gerald Sensibaugh, a guy who can be upgraded. The Jags decide to draft Zibby out of Notre Dame to knock out that need.

28 (59). Indianapolis Colts- Darrell Robertson DE, Georgia Tech

Freeney and Mathis are great, but are becoming more and more fragile as the years go by, and if they’re sidelined, their pass rush disappears.

29 (60) Green Bay Packers- Cliff Avril OLB, Purdue

Brady Poppinga could be upgraded.

30 (61) Dallas Cowboys- Chris Johnson RB, East Carolina

The speedster Chris Johnson lands in Dallas to compliment Marion Barber. Together they form a Thunder and Lightning tandem similar to Reggie Bush and Deuce McCalister.

31 (62). New England Patriots- Tavaris Gooden ILB, Miami

One word…youth.

32 (63) New York Giants- Quinton Demps FS, Utep

Demps could take the spot of Gabril Wilson.

30 (196) Indianapolis Colts- Adrian Arrington WR, Michigan

31 (197) New England Patriots- Pierre Garcon WR, Mount Union

32 (198) New York Giants- Tommy Blake DE, TCU

Great job

I wonder how much time it takes to put one of these together.

Very nice draft for the Bills.

Would love to see the draft pan out for them this way.

30. Green Bay Packers- Brandon Flowers CB, Virginia Tech

This is more for depth since Al Harris and Charles Woodson showed signs of wear last season.

Previous Pick: Antoine Cason

Flowers may play more physical (Harris), but I prefer the Cason pick. I think he is a better playmaker, and would be a good help in the return game (Woodson). I also keep hearing how much of a class act guy he is, so he definitely fits TT's "Packer People". Cason is one of those guys that I think is being underrated in a lot of mocks.

25 (56) Green Bay Packers (from Cle)- Dustin Keller TE, Purdue

The Packers draft Keller to fill the void of Bubba Franks and compliment Donald Lee. He should be a great weapon for Aaron Rogers.

If he's there, I like the pick, but I think the Packers need a good blocking TE to replace Bubba. Donald Lee is plenty capable of being a go-to TE to help Rodgers.

29 (60) Green Bay Packers- Cliff Avril OLB, Purdue

Brady Poppinga could be upgraded.

Pop was upgraded when they signed Chillar, but I do like Avril as a defensive playmaker.

28 (91) Green Bay Packers- John Greco T, Toledo

Solid. I was just talking to a buddy tonight about Greco and that he could be a great pick for the Pack on day 2 if available.

29 (128)Green Bay Packers- Erik Ainge QB, Tennessee

Another solid pick. I actually think he'll go earlier than this.

36 (135)Green Bay Packers (Comp Pick)- Patrick Allen RB, Oklahoma

I think this might be a little early for Allen, and I'm not sure he brings anything to the Packer's RB depth chart that we don't already have.

27 (162) Green Bay Packers- Jamie Silva S, Boston College

He'll fit right in with the long hair.
