So family is going to yellowstone from mn. we are spending a week in Yellowstone. I have planned one week to drive home back to MN. We are using a travel trailer. So my question is, what is worth seeing in the eastern part of montana. Outdoor type of stuff. I've been there before and love the red canyons. any decent campgrounds in that type of terrain?

If your suggestion is west of jackson hole im fine with that, just need ideas.

Not much to see east of Billings, MT or even Bozeman. The scenery & cool towns start west of Bozeman. Livingston is beautiful as is Whitefish/ Kalispal. Whitefish has a ski/chairlift ride to top of mountain. Do it. You may be south of here though.

Close to there, I've been to Medora, ND, off I-94 -- home to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the North Dakota Badlands. There's a loop that you can drive around. If you are into historical kind of stuff, they have Theodore Roosevelt's cabin on display outside the Visitors Center.

If you take the northern route you go through ND and not a ton to see along the I-94

However, if you take the more southern route, and not much more time, along I-90, you'll go through the Black Hills. Tons to do.

Mt Rushmore

Crazy Horse

Custer State Park

Bear Country

Wind Cave NP

WAY better option.

I am taking 90 there. Not taking it home because of bike rally in Sturgis.
