Is there an app for that? They talk about security as if the only security you need to worry about is what if you loose your plastc card. My concern is that it makes skimming people's cards 10x easier. If you're a waiter, you have one of these, you clone your customer's card to your plastc card and go live it up that night on someone else's dime. This used to require a lot more hardware/time and typically ended up being a multi-person operation, with plastc it's been dumbed down enough to be a one man operation which is much more scary.
The battery would be low. Possibly dead. What happens when you forget to charge the battery?
From the FAQ link:How long does the battery last? What happens when you forget to charge the battery?
I like the fact that I wouldn't need to carry a ton of cards in my wallet. I also have had a couple of Amex's that have lost the plastic on the mag-strip from rubbing against other cards. It would be nice to keep my original at home and move around with one like this.Pretty cool but I only use 1 credit card and a bank card. I like the security aspect though.
BTW: whoever wrote the dialog for this should be punched in the throat.
Costco's gonna change to something besides Amex next year or so. Costco and Amex have had a divorce. How I'm I suppose to get into the Costco fortresse if I can't flash my Amex ?
This would be nice, but with the card you could use it anywhere, places that wouldn't have made it to that tech yet. A gas station, vending machine, etc., that would the last to be brought up to date.I have an app on my phone that stores the bar codes any membership numbers for all my 'loyalty' cards and discount cards at various retailers. They can just scan my phone display instead of me carrying 30 cards or whatever.
[bold]I imagine in the future I'll have an app linked to my credit card that generates a one-time QR code which the retailer or waiter scans and bills me with. Seems easier than another plastic thing.[/bold]
There was a review on Gizmodo or somewhere last week, the retailer kept having to bump or tap the card to get it to work, so it took several tries to get the thing to read. Weird.
Well its new and not released yet...like any gadget, bugs will hopefully get worked out before it starts to ship. I wonder if there will be updates to the software available and how that would work.I have an app on my phone that stores the bar codes any membership numbers for all my 'loyalty' cards and discount cards at various retailers. they think they can charge $155 for itLong overdue.
What are the drawbacks?
If it works like they say. $155 seems reasonable for the convenience.they think they can charge $155 for itLong overdue.

rewritable chip, PIN, and remote wipe. The pitch is more about convenience than stopping that. Besides, don't most if not all cards now come with zero liability? And the FTCV limits liability to $50 if you report it within 2 business daysThey talk about security as if the only security you need to worry about is what if you loose your plastc card. Get the Lowes/HD card to get a "deal" of some sort then never use them again.I just never understood the Hd/Lowes/Best Buy/Macy's kind of cards.
What do I need these for if I already have an Amex/Visa/MC? I get that they give you specific rewards, but so does my Amex and those rewards are more universal.
If I could load the following, I'd be in, although 155 still seems a little steep.Christo said:How many credit cards do you have? I carry an Amex, personal Visa, and business Visa. I wasn't aware that HD and Lowes didn't require you to have the card. Lowes offers a 5% discount when you use that card. HD will match Lowes discount if you use the HD card and ask "can I have my Lowes discount". But I wouldn't have to give my phone # and would be able to use the self check out. True about eliminating one of the Visa's.The local rest/ice cream place offers a deal at the beginning of the season. Spend $100-, get a $125- gift card.AcerFC said:The HD and Lowes cards can be kept at home. All you need is your phone number at the store and they pull it up. You also do not need to carry both Visas with you, do you? I think one would be more than enough
You also only need to carry the gift cards when you plan on going to that specific place. If you want to pop in spontaneously, then just use one of the 4 credit cards you have left in your wallet
How hard is it to seriously carry CC's? I have a MasterCard that I use on line of credit and is accepted just about anywhere that takes CC, one that I use at Target for 5% off, and an ATM card. I could justify leaving the Target in the car glovebox locked, so that's 2 cards I must have on me.squidrope said:If it works like they say. $155 seems reasonable for the convenience.Fennis said:they think they can charge $155 for itTripItUp said:Long overdue.

Try trademarking the word "Plastic"I was researching and found another type called "Swyp". What's with this innovation and just dropping a vowel?
And Swype is already trademarked.Try trademarking the word "Plastic"I was researching and found another type called "Swyp". What's with this innovation and just dropping a vowel?

Home Depot emails you an electronic receipt now. It's the greatest thing ever. I wish every place would do that. I hate paper receipts. If they get all the bugs out of this system and it's shown to be secure, I'm on board. Getting rid of having to use my phone number/card for:
Home depot
Lowes
Grocery Stores
Auto Zone
Walgreens
Rite Aid
Costco
Gas rewards card
And since I use different cards for different purchase types, replacing:
Bank card,
Visa or MC (keep the other as an emergency card in case this is lost/stolen)
Discover
Amex
Business Amex
Also:
Work building key card
Parking key card
Would absolutely be worth it. I'd love to go back to carrying my driver's license, one card, and and a spot for receipts.
Not only do I have the exact same set-up, but I liked it so much this is what I gave my groomsmen at my wedding too (put an Amazon gift card in there for good measures)... They all now use this as opposed to a wallet. My wallet has been a money clip/card case since I got it as a groomsman gift 13 years ago. I have seven credit card equivalents (one of those is a building access card for example) plus many other thinner items (Metrocards, license, insurance cards) that all comfortably fit inside the two pockets. With a nice amount of cash in the money clip, it's no more than an inch thick and less than 4 inches long.
ElectoWalletTMI use a leather type pouch that holds all of my cards perfectly and fits great in any pocket. An added bonus is it never needs charging.
Like to keep my bases open just in case a vendor doesn't accept a certain CC... I carry a MC debit, Visa CC, Amex CC.Is this the thread where we list all the cards in we carry around in our wallet?
DL
BoA Bank Card
Chase Bank Card
Insurance Card
Travel CC
Amazon CC
Corporate CC
Corporate Fuel
All in one of those money clip card holder wallets currently at 5/8" thick.
Mine is Coach, the pockets go long ways instead of short like yours but yeah same idea. About a year ago, the lower of the front pockets started ripping a bit, and after it got torn up even more, I just ripped the entire pocket off and there was enough slack in the top pocket to add everything there. As good as new now.Not only do I have the exact same set-up, but I liked it so much this is what I gave my groomsmen at my wedding too (put an Amazon gift card in there for good measures)... ETA: Mine is Colehaan FTR, which they unfortunately don't make this model anymore. I just can't lose it bc I love it so much.

They replaced my model with the above, still would recommend this over any wallet any day of the week.
If you put that pouch in your back pocket, it can cause back problems. Any other pocket, it might be inconvenient to get out or easy to lose.I use a leather type pouch that holds all of my cards perfectly and fits great in any pocket. An added bonus is it never needs charging.
