Remco Evenepoel to ride for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe starting 2026

Lipowitz needs a better bottle fetcher to keep up with Pogi and Jonas.

Last November Red Bull offered him $10M per season plus his choice of three support riders.

SQS shut it down but did bump his 2025 salary to €5.5M, second only to Pogi at €6.5M. IIRC the 3-5 are €5M (Roglic) €4.5M (Jonas) and €4 (MvdP).

When UAE extended Tadej for a second time, until 2030, they did put in buyout terms. Anyone is free to sign Pogačar providing they pony up the transfer fee of €200M.

Will be interesting to eventually learn how much RB-Bh paid SQS for the transfer buyout & if he’s now the highest earner in the sport.

imagine a world where the Grand Tours return to ITT stages of 45, 55, 70 kms - which was not that long ago actually - and his gap to the mountain guys shrinks considerably

just happens to ride in an era where the big dog eats HCs like he's snaking on bacon, & race organizers always tailor the parcours to suit the top dog's stength

doesn't climb well enough to ever beat Pogi or Jonas but he is still an amazing talent and will compete for another 8-10 years

I do agree that every tour should have a TT that's flat and about an hour in length. Unfortunately that would turn in an aero arms race.

I think the aero race is over. We've pretty much gotten to optimal.

IMO, an hour is way too long these days - creates huge separation between competitors and sucks for viewing excitement. 20k is a good number. The hilly ones lately with folks all over the map on bikes, switching bikes in the middle, etc. are also pretty awesome. Gotta stay short, though.

That sucks. Best part of these shorter stage races is this crap not happening.

It would be super cool if you could before the contest start designate two replacement riders that get automatically subbed in if your rider abandons and they are priced at or less than the rider who abandons.

If you want viewing excitement and less separation, ban Pogi from racing.

He sounds very burned out in recent interviews. I wouldn't be surprised if he's out in 2-3 years.

Saw the same with Sagan. In 2017 I remember that dude was ripped - maybe 3% body fat. Tore up the field in the world championships. Never was the same after that - totally burned himself out.

broke his collarbone in Strade Bianche, rode a good Giro, then crashed hard in the Dauphine TTT (it was super rainy, right? if I am remembering right)

those two DNFs due to injury and then a DNS for his national race, presumably because of the lingering effects of the second crash
