Official 2025 Kentucky Derby thread - Sovereignty 1, Journalism 1 - on to the Belmont! (1 Viewer)

Starting to shift my thoughts on top to Sovereignty. Going back and forth between him and Baeza. All these horses want to lay closer and make earlier moves - Sovereignty makes the last move a winning one?
 
Going with $2 Baeza ATB
$2 Show on Hill Road
$1 Show on Sovereignty
$1 ex box 1-2-6
$0.50 tri box 1-2-6
$0.10 super 1-2-3-6-7

$30 flushed lol but going out with a bang.

Baeza drifted up so far odds to me. Stuck with my original play. $200 win and $100 exacta boxes to Sovereignty and Journalism. Already played at the OTB down the street. Will play a few savers those 3 boxed to Rodriguez just in case he gets a lonely loose lead. A few tri's but that's it. Sovereignty is the one I'm afraid of.

Sovereignty Looked like he was ready to kick *** in the paddock . Just checking the crowd out with his head and ears all perked up

Sovereignty just best. Props to him and the connections. Baffled by Baeza's race. I guess they didn't like the way he was acting in the post parade but I already made my bet at the OTB. Thought he would get first jump. Breaks iffy and just shocked to see both Journalism and Sovereignty in front of him while Prat is choking him. Oh well.

Christophe’s son Miguel has been working with his dad for years. He took over the string.
Just got his first graded stakes win with Deterministic in the grade 1 Manhattan at Saratoga

Crazy race in the Jockey Club Gold Cup today. Huge match-up between Mindframe and Sierra Leone. Antiquarian won the race as Irad Ortiz fell off of Mindframe and Sierra Leone had to (mostly) avoid stepping on Ortiz. The wildest part of it was that White Abarrio briefly had two jockeys riding him!

that was crazy. Prat avoiding Irad was huge there after Irad dropped. I really thought he was going to ride double on White Abarrio.
