Official 2025 Kentucky Derby thread - Sovereignty 1, Journalism 1 - on to the Belmont! (1 Viewer)

Starting to shift my thoughts on top to Sovereignty. Going back and forth between him and Baeza. All these horses want to lay closer and make earlier moves - Sovereignty makes the last move a winning one?

Going with $2 Baeza ATB
$2 Show on Hill Road
$1 Show on Sovereignty
$1 ex box 1-2-6
$0.50 tri box 1-2-6
$0.10 super 1-2-3-6-7

$30 flushed lol but going out with a bang.

Good luck everyone 🐴

Baeza drifted up so far odds to me. Stuck with my original play. $200 win and $100 exacta boxes to Sovereignty and Journalism. Already played at the OTB down the street. Will play a few savers those 3 boxed to Rodriguez just in case he gets a lonely loose lead. A few tri's but that's it. Sovereignty is the one I'm afraid of.

I have 200 on Baeza at 53-1, future book. If he gets in he'll go off less than 10-1.

Every morning I hope for a defection from a vet making their rounds. One year there were 5. I'm down to two mornings of hope left.

That horse should absolutely be in this field. Not good for horse racing. Shame on those clowns and their idiotic point system.
Getting out my horse voodoo doll to see if I can help you out. Where are all the Derby-week defections when we need them?

Going back to ma boy.

Sovereignty just best. Props to him and the connections. Baffled by Baeza's race. I guess they didn't like the way he was acting in the post parade but I already made my bet at the OTB. Thought he would get first jump. Breaks iffy and just shocked to see both Journalism and Sovereignty in front of him while Prat is choking him. Oh well.

On another note, very sad to see Christophe Clement passed away. Great trainer, especially with turf horses. Always prominent in NY and Fl. Only 59. Melanoma. That hits close to home as I battled it this year myself. RIP Mr. Clement.

Christophe’s son Miguel has been working with his dad for years. He took over the string.
Just got his first graded stakes win with the Deterministic in the grade 1 Manhattan at Saratoga
