Player Performance after a guarrantee: i.e. I Bruce this week (1 Viewer)

I have been thinking of starting Bruce over Branch this week, as it seems 49er CB's match up well to Branch and Bruce should be in a come from behind, throw every down game. On the other hand, Bulger is beat up, o line is beat up and Bruce has had 2 out of 3 dud games.

What I'm wondering is historically after a player "guarrantees a victory" as Bruce has supposedly done from reports I've read- does that cause the other team to try and shut down that player no matter what as payback, does that player go off trying to back it up, or does the other team (Cowboys) just laugh it off and go about their usual business? NFL Sirius has been acting like the Cowboys are all worked up so I could see them trying to put it to Bruce.

Just curious for now and the future- how do these situations usually play out in regards to the players perfomance?

A WR making a guarantee at the NFL level is pretty dumb... you have to rely on someone else to get you the ball.

I know from last year Roy Williams of the Lions wasn't very good at it.

I imagine when the 3-0 Cowboys heard that a player on the 0-3 Rams was guaranteeing a win in Texas Stadium, they all just had a good laugh.

But I can't guarantee it.

To be fair, it was stupid how close the Lions were to putting 40 points on the board in that game.
