Player Spotlight: Jerricho Cotchery (1 Viewer)

Time to jump ship?
I hate making such a bold call so early into the season, but I think its time to sell in a PPR league. Maybe an Owner still sees him as a top 20 guy.I just don't see Cotchery catching 80+ balls this yearETA: Just ran some quick numbers on this thought.Favre has been averaging 24 attemps per game so far. Jets averaged 31 last season. Figure the end number will be somewhere around 28 attemps per. I still think this is a conservative Offense, but won't be throwing + 30 time a game as the D looks better and the Jets shouldn't be playing from behind as much.28 x 16 = 448 with a completion rate 66% (Favre's % last season) we are looking at 299 completions. roughly 80 receptions to the RBs. (219 now)65 receptions to the TEs (154)How these 154 break down is the mystery. IMO it would be something like...55 Cotchery48 Coles40 Stuckey (might be under estimating this number) 11 OtherObvisouly these are just loose numbers, but also very realistic.

I think he's a buy-low candidate right now. The guy obviously can play well with Favre. What's missing are the opportunities. Mangini, et. al. have been stupid (IMO) not to turn Favre a little more loose with his arm. The offense (watched them both weeks) has been bland and ultra-conservative. Plus I think Favre is still somewhere in the middle of the learning curve for the offensive scheme.Still, I think losing games like they did on Sunday to New England may move the offensive minds on that staff to let go of the reins a bit and let their golden boy sling it around.
You are a spot on. As a Pats fan, it makes me happy to read this; as a Cotchery owner, not so much.It seems the Jets offense has not adjusted to Favre's skillset and they are still calling plays as if Noodle Arm is back there. From what I've seen of their games (and I saw all of Wk 2), the only long passes down the field seemed to come on breakdowns when Faver is rocking it playground style. You'd think the Jets will have to open up the playbook a bit once Favre fully digests it. I think all the heat they are taking in the local & national media for the three straight run plays from the three should affect their playcalling. Gotta love the NY media spotlight.
