This is the exact opposite of the truth. The more we ignore this stuff, the more engrained it becomes. That's how we got here in the first place.
In particular, a lot of the language that's creeping into the discourse about women used to be considered misogynistic. I don't recall anybody ever arguing that we should just ignore misogyny and it will probably go away on its own.

I agree with this part. I know that at least for me personally, I assumed that ideas this ludicrous and gross would remain confined to the fever swamps of the internet. It didn't occur to me that those places would function as intellectual wet markets.

Just for context, have never seen an episode of Survivor (have heard of it obviously) and have never heard of The Insider (literally never heard of it). Not even sure how a 4 month old article about such nonsense bubbles up to politics.

For context the lack of change of underwear and resulting yeast infections has been a controversy for a few years now. And the way the article is titled is pretty much how it has been discussed by the contestants complaining. It is about why such things as a second pair of underwear matters for some.

This is exactly correct, but we used to use "woman" as the recipient of said underwear, understanding why women took baths more frequently or needed more underwear.
