Playoff pool (1 Viewer)

I am in a playoff pool thru the playoffs that consists of using a regular fantasy lineup each week of playoffs but you could only use a player one time. I have tried working backwards from the projected Super Bowl (Ravens/49ers) but that idea hasn't helped much. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Lineup-1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr,1te, 1 flex, 1 kicker, and 1 defense...thank u

Is it just total points for all rounds combined or can you get knocked out each round? That matters.....

If I'm understanding the format correctly, the first thing I would do is identify which teams you think are going to be eliminated in the WC games and determine whether their studs will be worth it to play in a loss. Look for garbage time WRs/QBs or high volume RBs. Guys like Flacco, Amari Cooper, Etienne, Kyren Williams.

Then do the same for teams you only expect to play in two games. Start them the next week.

As far as studs on teams I expect to go far, I'd play them as soon as possible too wherever you can. For example, I would expect the 49ers studs to fare better against weaker divisional opponents than whoever they play in the superbowl.

A strategy like this where you frontload studs earlier in the playoffs against weaker opponents sounds good to me at first glance, but its an interesting format.

ETA: If it's H2H, this may not be a good strategy.

I agree with your strategy if it's a total points league where you can't get eliminated. I was going to post the same strategy (start by identifying the teams losing in the WC round and pick their high point guys to leave more options round 2). But if you can get eliminated each round then that will shift a bit because you gotta make sure you move on.

ETA: I play in a playoff league where you draft players before the playoffs start (we draft next Friday). Then you accumulate points for the entire playoffs through the SB. There is no substitutes. You draft 9 players and then you set it and forget it. As players get eliminated your team dwindles. Obviously the goal is to draft players on teams playing the most games while also scoring a lot. With 12 teams drafting (one QB and K per team) the pickens get slim fast so you end up with guys like Juszczyk being critical if they can get a cheapy TD in the SB. It's a great format.

I'm in a similar league to yours which is how I tend to approach these. Shameless self promotion: I started a Shark Pool thread trying to figure out how many games each team will play in the playoffs which I agree is key to these types of leagues.

I have been following that thread closely. It's a great resource and definitely important for these type of leagues. I have found that the best way to approach these is all or nothing. Meaning, it doesn't really matter if you do above average if you weren't good enough to win. My league pays three places (50%-30%-20%) so it does you no good to finish 4th. Might as well finish last. So I tend to pick a team I think is going to the SB and put my eggs in that basket. I have been playing this format for 30+ years and teams that spread their picks out over all NFL playoff teams always tend to do solid but rarely win money. I always try and pair QB/K/top RB or WR as my triumverate. I tend to go with teams that don't get a bye because if they make it to the Conference championship game they get 3 games the same as a bye team going to the SB plus you have the added bonus that they could get 4 games. But I gotta really believe they have a shot at the SB. This year is really tough because I think it will be chalk with Bal/SF going to the SB.

Another factor in the draft style is sometimes you best laid plans get blown up because someone else takes some of your eggs. If that happens I sometimes shift my eggs to my second choice. Remember I am going for all or nothing. So if I can't stack and then get spread to thin I likely won't win anyway so jumping ships to a stackable team has merit. I might be done week 1 but maybe they play three games and I run away with it. Stranger things have happened.

I know this isn't the exact right thread for this, but what platform are people using for their fantasy playoff games? NFL.com shut down their product this year.

Some quick research shows me that the remaining options available are MFL, SecondSeason and Fantrax. Any opinions on which one is the best? I don't need anything too complicated, although I like the leagues that have some sort of a bonus/limitation built in (NFL.com allowed you to use any player you wanted, but gave a bonus for each consecutive week you used a guy; I previously used CBSSports, which limited the number of transactions you could make).

Yeah we use that for our small friends league I liked the format

Found this, I’m intrigued at least

I use MFL mostly because we host our regular season league there. It works well. They have free playoff leagues, but I am not sure if that is for all or people who pay for regular season. I run a draft team and forget it total points league and a set a lineup each week using players only once league (also total points) on the site and it works well for us. MFL is very customizable for whatever you want to set up.
