Playoffs Thread - New York Giants V Green Bay (1 Viewer)

The Packers just looked like a different team out there. Disappointing to feel like they saved their worst game for the playoffs. Got outplayed by the Giants and there isn't much else to say really. Sad to see it's turned into such a crapfest on these boards, but what can you do.Congrats Giants fans, enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Don't get caught up in all this stuff sho nuff.Just let it go. You're only giving the FBG's that are trolling more ammo. The Packers lost to the better team today. It happens.
See, that's the beauty. He can't NOT reply to any post that is remotely negative about the Packers.Even after the Packers take a giant dump today and finally pay for their horrid defense and overrated everything, he's got to fight tooth and nail about the Packers being the greatest team in the NFL.

Great win! I feel bad that Ryan Grant fumbled the game away when GB still had a chance. Good guy who has fought for everything he's got. Don Bosco, ND, traded from the Giants to GB when the Giants were stacked at RB. He deserves a better memory than that.

It's too bad the refs missed Jennings fumble in the 1st quarter. For a guy who had a ton to talk about BEFORE the game, sneaking out with a few minutes left and your team down by 17 isn't exactly backing up the talk.

Loved hearing the CRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ chants and the Let's Go Giants chants at the end of the game.

Onto San Fran and a date with Destiny!!

GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the real world children here are the ones that keep coming into threads to piss in them and get guys mad and try to screw with them, but end up ####### up threads.

Sarnoff, tanner and amos are a few off the top of my head.

Total fishing jerkasses who really need to grow up

As we've learned all too often in recent seasons past, anybody in the NFL can be beaten. The Packers had a great great season, just didn't have a great playoff game and ran into a team that's playing its best ball of the season right now. We've seen this before, too.

Exactly.GB slipped into the playoffs last year, then did the bolded themselves.

From my perspective, this ending to the Packers run is similar to the 1998 Vikings. Both teams were just s*** hot all season long, then just sputtered and died in the playoffs.

I believe it's more like the 2009 Colts.Resting in week 17 screws up your team. It was proven, yet the Packers did it anyway and look how that ended up.

Funny you should bring this up. Was just reading on CBS Sports that the Giants played to win, the Packers played to look pretty.

I can't believe that teams still rest players in week 17. After the last few years... the 2007 Giants playing up to the Patriots in week 17 giving them momentum all the way through the playoffs, the 2009 Colts, the 2011 Packers... I think we'll see a lot less of it going forward. Any coach who gives his team, especially one with a guaranteed bye, three weeks off is an idiot. They just come out rusty and begging to be beat.

The post mortem on this game on ESPN Radio all day has been rather childish. All of the sudden, Green Bay probably wasn't that good. Outside of Rodgers they don't do anything particularly well. Maybe Eli really is one of the top 5 QB's in the league and he is close to being better than his brother. And on and on.

I'm ok with fans reacting all over the place. That is what a fan is. But ESPN is going a little tilt here. The Packers are a really good team that was every bit of an undefeated team heading into their one loss in the regular season. Rodgers is a superb QB and their WR corps is solid. The Defense isn't great, but the NFL rules in place pretty much show us that you don't need to be a dominate D to go far - although obviously it helps. They play that game 10 times and the Giants don't win every game. I don't even know if the Giants win a majority of them. The WR's for GB had a collective off game and the Giants secondary stood on their heads all game. Eli has had a great year, but is definately capable of throwing 3 picks in a game. They need to relax a little.

Mike & Mike were screaming about the two or three bad refs calls though - so I'm glad I'm not just seeing things as a fan. Overall, I don't think Packers fans have much to worry about. The offense is very very good and you have a star QB. You get one or two more defensive pieces to help out a little there and they will be right back in the final 8 next year.

The regular-season, playing every week Packers were pretty good. The rusty, 3-week vacation Packers were easy to exploit.

I wouldn't say easy to exploit. Giants still had to make plays and as a fan I can tell you that we still sit on the edge of our seats when the RB's have the ball. And that hall mary was just a fluke. I mean, I love me some Nicks and said so at the beginning of the season, but you can't call that anything but a fluke.

 Good play call, close to a high-percentage play. Packers put 8 on the line and played to guard against the short out. Three white jerseys and two green ones in the end zone, can't ask for better than that.

:goodposting: I think it especially hurts teams like the Packers and previously the Colts who really on a strong passing game. The QB and WR's need to be in sinc and there is such a small margin of error from being great to being very medicore. Just too much time off to maintain the rhythm of a great passing game. Especially when going up against a solid defense like the Giants.

The game has already been ruined by that non-fumble call. The referees cannot be making errors like that.99.9999% of all humans watching the game know it was a fumble. It's just not acceptable. Just come out and say you want to see Rodgers versus Brady in the superbowl and get it over with.Tell us to come back on February the 5th.
:lmao:

I find it odd that not playing in week 17 caused the Packers to slow down. Remember week 1 and the Rodgers post game comments about the criticism the Packers had received for not getting together during the layoff? So, I'm not buying the week 17 theory as the total reason for their performance yesterday.

Me neither. Finley stunk yesterday dropping multiple balls (in his hopefully last game as Packer). Ryan Grant had a huge fumble (in his hopefully last game as a Packer). And Charles Woodson got :own3d: just on that Hail Mary just like he did back at Michigan.

I think the Packers had blinders on as to how much the Giants outplayed them in the regular season game. If they looked at that game objectively they would have had more concerns with playing this team.

Not sure many are that worried. There are definite issues on the team that need to be addressed...especially with the exodus of coaches that is likely to come.

Of course I agree that the Packers let their "perfect season" talk result in them having blinders on, but, be aware that saying so on these boards is for some reason frowned upon by some in here. Fact is you're right, they were not objective about their own level of play or that of their opponents.

:shrug:I definitely think it affected their timing for one. That late Finley drop on third down, he slowed up and was about to stop on his route, and Rodgers threw a fastball leading him ahead. He had to leap and fully extend just to get fingertips on it. They each expected the other to do the opposite of what they did. Stuff like that all day long from the Pack.

Really? After just about every game they played this year they were quoted as saying they have a lot to improve on, they have to play much better, they left a lot of plays out there. Sounds like a team that knew it had a lot of room for improvement despite their record.

People say stuff all the time and their actions say something different. The way the Pack played, said they weren't prepared.

Not prepared...or did not execute can be an interesting discussion.Saying it was only about the talk of the season and having blinders on is blatant fishing.

Guys, Sarnoff is a friggin joke and has no clue about sports. He's only in here to fish you guys and get a rise out of you.

He isn't and never was a competitor. He's a little Nancy boy playing in his skirt and hiding behind his computer talking #### and not knowing what the hell hes talking about.

Just don't respond to the clown,,,,,, Seriously.

Question about the Jacobs TD that clinched the game:

That play was absolutely not designed to go back to the right, correct? Jacobs cut back on his own?

(Woodson would have caught him a couple of years ago, incidentally.)

You know, the more I look at it, he cuts back almost immediately.

I'll say it probably was designed for him to go away from the flow for deception purposes.

I believe the beat writers said he was supposed to take it between the RG & RT. Jacobs decided to stretch it wider.

The Pack was prepared. They shut down the run all day (till the end) What happened was they did not execute. More fumbles then in one game then they had all season. More dropped passes than in any other game. Interceptions dropped. Both teams were well prepared. The Giants executed and the Packers did not. Giants played winning football, Packers played losing football.
